Lately, a few people have asked me how I met @ngu.photos and @clockwise_yvr , and the easy answer is through a photowalk that Simon and I organized. Who knew it would be the start of something bigger?

If you’ve followed me or this account for a while, you’ll know I’m all about connecting with new people and building community. Simon and I had been talking for a while on Instagram and decided to meet in person, then invited anyone else who wanted to join us for a walk around Vancouver on a cold winter night. James was one of those who joined us, and we all got along right from the start, which eventually led to where we are now.

It’s funny how something as simple as a photowalk can lead to new friendships, collaborations, and ideas.

Here are some photos from that cold night in February last year.

First time photographing SFU in black and white.

I’ve visited and photographed this campus so many times over the years, but I’ve always shot it in colour.

Without colour, the concrete takes over. The texture, repetition, shadows and geometry all become more pronounced.

A familiar place, but a new way of looking at it.

Hello everyone, After 7 years and 5 print issues, I feel it’s finally time to properly introduce myself and share some upcoming changes here at STADE Magazine.

My name is James, @jimothy_c, and I founded STADE as an artistic outlet combining some of my biggest interests: photography, travel, and hearing people’s stories. Growing up exploring the PNW, I’ve become predominantly known for landscape photography, but I also really enjoy shooting portraits.

Looking ahead, STADE is growing, which I am very excited about! I’ll be introducing two new members to the team this week, and together we’ve been working on some new ideas for the magazine and how we share stories. You’ll start to see some changes to our content, such as personal travel stories from our team, gear recommendations, places to stay, and stories from people we encounter along the way.

After a year-long hiatus, we’re also hoping to bring STADE back to print next year with a new issue.

At its core, STADE will continue to be about exploring the world around us and growing this community. We’ll still be sharing your travel stories and interviews, as we really enjoy hearing them so stay tuned as we continue exploring the world around us. Thank you all so much for your support throughout this journey. It truly means a lot. Here are a collection of some of my favourite shots for your viewing pleasure.
