Photos with my best friend 🌼
In the weeks after Haru’s due date had come and left, I felt a little bit in limbo; twiddling my thumbs hoping each passing day he would arrive. My tummy was very big and I was aware that these might be the last moments I had in this beautiful fleeting stage of motherhood, so I asked my sweet friend @honmemishi @honshotyou to capture some photos of Jim and I.
The photos are so beautiful, we will cherish them forever. I can’t believe my little Haru is in that tummy! ❤️

Jim Roche’s A-frame sculptures fuse surfboard shaping and post-minimalist abstraction into sleek, tapering forms.

Evoking motion without function, they transform suburban craft into sculptural memory, objects that remember speed, lineage, and loss.

Born in 1989 on the Gold Coast, Melbourne-based Jim Roche’s practice draws from a lineage of surfboard shaping and suburban craft traditions to produce sculptural works that blur the boundaries between object, artifact, and abstraction, sculpture, and painting.

Roche’s work is on display in his solo exhibition at STARKWHITE Auckland.

🗓️ On now - 1 November
