We last saw Papa on 5th January 2020. He had just undergone open-heart surgery and was slowly recovering. That morning was sunny and calm—a typical winter day. He stepped out for a short walk, like he usually did, but this time… he never came back. The CCTV footage from the nearby lane showed him getting into an auto, but it was too blurry. We couldn’t trace the vehicle or the driver. We filed reports, asked around, searched every possible place. But before we could find any solid lead, COVID hit—and the world shut down. So did every clue about Papa. He left behind his phone, spectacles, and even his medicines. He was wearing a watch inscribed with “Supreme Court of India” and had a small hole in his nose. He was also undergoing treatment for depression during that time. It’s been five long years now. Still no trace, no answers. Mumma waits every day, holding on to hope. We, her daughters, try to stay strong for her, but we see how she’s silently breaking. Her eyes search for him in every stranger’s face. We miss you, Papa. We love you so much. Please come back. We are eagerly waiting for your return.
