10 years ago, I was lucky enough to enter into one of the noblest and most humbling professions that exist. Throughout this journey, I’ve made lifelong friends and family, commiserated and celebrated over shared traumas and triumphs, helped the truly misfortunate in the face of utter disaster, and dared to partake in the creation of future generations of nurses to come. Happy Nurses’ Week to all of my allies in this journey! You are all heroes and ultimate rescue ninjas in my book! Have you a hugged a nurse today? Better yet, buy them a drink — they probably need it more than you do! 👩🏻‍⚕️ #rescueninjas #nurselife #nightshift #rescueninjaeducator #happynursesweek

2017 was spent making the most amazing memories and having the best adventures — from solo international trips to dropping everything and flying to Puerto Rico for my first disaster relief medical mission, wading through waterfalls and taking my mom to her first trip to wine country, and of course, spending time with my favorite people! I couldn’t have asked for a better year! Here’s to 2018! #2017 #bestnineoninstagram2017 #memories #colorfactory #BlueLagoon #Iceland #Havasupai #PuertoRico #boyfriend #love #NapaValley #scubadiving #girlswhoscuba #glacierdiving #LasVegas #fun

The past few days in Puerto Rico were spent in the municipality of Canóvanas, where, with our powers combined, construction workers from AFL-CIO and our medical team were able to clear roofs, remove trees and, of course, provide medical assistance and health education to the community. In this particular area in the mountains, they experienced a landslide during Hurricane Maria, which destroyed the majority of homes along the cliff side and a bridge connecting the towns. But it was extremely uplifting to see how our joint efforts were able to help these communities after such a disaster. Teamwork always makes the dream work! ❤️ #Canovanas #PuertoRico #PuertoRicoselevanta #RNRN #RNResponseNetwork #RNshealtheworld #teamwork #ourpowerscombined #rescueninjaonamission

$Yesterday, our medical team went into the community of Santa Rita de Rio Piedras in San Juan. Despite the hardships people have experienced, everyone remains resilient, positive and overwhelming grateful for our presence! Last night, we were finally able to get a few shipments of supplies to the headquarters, which we will be distributing into the further areas of the island that have not been accessed as readily. The reality of the situation is that, while there may be some supplies available in the main city of San Juan, other towns on the island that have been hard hit by the Hurricane are either impassable or not safe to travel in order to deliver resources or medical attention in a day’s trip. Only a fraction of the island even has electricity or any means of communication, therefore, any efforts to reach more areas outside of San Juan and it’s neighboring cities have been met with some difficulty. But the AFL-CIO and its affiliates of nurses’ unions and other labor organizations are working in a combined effort to, not just provide medical aid, but, among other things, help to clear the roads, build the roofs, distribute supplies and ensure the safety of our group. It takes a village! ❤️ #PuertoRico #SanJuan #RioPiedras #PuertoRicoselevanta #RNRN #RNResponseNetwork #NNU #rescueninjaonamission #RNshealtheworld #disasterrelief #medicalmission$
