@tiesto brought back “Strings of Life” in a completely fresh version for his Creamfields closing set 🎻 “Strings of Life” is about as foundational as dance music gets. Derrick May first put it out in 1987 as Rhythim Is Rhythim, and that piano-and-strings sequence became one of the records that shaped house and techno as we know them. The version Tiësto reached for is a brand new remix by @jiphart.music, a rising Dutch artist, built on the Soul Central and Kathy Brown vocal take and out on Defected. He worked it into his Creamfields closing set at the Steel Yard. Touching a record with this much history is a big swing, but it fits where Tiësto is right now. He’s deep into a full return to trance, coming off his Sunrise residency at UNVRS and his Atomium show in Brussels, and giving “Strings of Life” a fresh coat is right in that spirit.
