Thank you to everyone who made the new Good People of Gainesville mural unveiling so special!

After months of collaborating and planning with Doug Ivester, I believe we were able to create something stronger than before on one of the best buildings in the city.

It was an incredible experience sharing my grandmother’s story that inspired the mural. This simple mural has always been deeply meaningful to me and Friday added even more to it.

Here are some highlights that made this mural project and ceremony so special…

- Friends, family, and community members (the Good People) contributed finishing brushstrokes to the mural prior to the unveiling (scroll to see a few of the contributors)

- A podium that was custom made for FDR in 1938 was used for the ceremony.

- Tyler Smiley kicked off our time together in prayer.

- We officially dedicated the mural to my Grandmother (Beatrice L. Hokayem) who survived the tornado in 1936 and gave me the idea for the mural.

- My dad contributed the final brushstrokes to complete the mural.

As a fun surprise, we also announced that the new Good People Mural is also Gainesville’s first Augmented Reality mural leveraging tech to bring the mural and its history to life (Another post coming on this soon).

The meaning behind the project has always been about people overcoming challenges, helping their neighbors, and making things better than they were before.

Be on the look out for more Good People projects and updates coming soon!

Huge thanks to Doug Ivester, Anna Jacobs, John Jacobs, Martha Hokayem, Chase Forrester, Chris Sturdivant, Sammy Smith, Edward Pucket, Marry Hemmer, and many more for pulling off the ceremony and helping me bring the mural back to life!

With under 72 hours in NYC, we hit the ground running. We got to taste a never ending supply of amazing coffees with Sey, talking through extraction theory and the next steps for how we can move the industry forward. La Cabra led us in an incredible cupping and roastery tour, shared a ton of pastries, showed us next level hospitality, and even clothed us in La Cabra workwear. We are so lucky to have the best team, and to share this trip together was a dream come true.

This week we took our team to NYC to shops that have shaped us since before we had a shop of our own. Back then, we were just travelers soaking up inspiration, dreaming of what we wanted to build someday. Now, all these years later standing in the same places we found ourselves overwhelmed with gratefulness for a shop and team that goes above and beyond our dreams every day. We were extended the best hospitality, the best drinks, and got to have the best people take care of our shop while we were gone. We couldn’t do it without y’all, and we wouldn’t want to do it for anyone else.

Hi, I’m Paige 🫶🏼

I wear lots of hats: stylist, salon owner, foil biz founder, wife, mom, and friend.

So if you’ve ever felt like you’re juggling a lot… same!

On my page, you’ll find real talk about hair (especially non-toxic color and clean brands), salon ownership, and the behind-the-scenes of running a small business!

I created @thepeachsalonga as a space where the girlies, clients and stylists can breathe a little deeper. I hope you walk in feeling seen and walk out knowing you’re not alone (and with the hair of your dreams ✨)

I also run @twobungalowbabes with my sister-in-law, McClain, a luxury hair foil company that launched last year to bring stylists products that elevate their brand and client experience 🤍

I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Micah, and I’m a mama to Leo and Linen 💕

Life is full, sometimes chaotic, mostly sweet, always worth it!

So glad you’re here. Whether you’re a client, a stylist, or just someone figuring things out… I hope this space feels like a breath of fresh air.
