POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last week the team at @colorsxstudios brought four days of free musical and cultural programming to their Bushwick studio for Tones of NYC.

Tones was a feast for the senses. Incense was lit while the iconic studio wall changed colors throughout the week as different artists across genres took to the stage. Guests were able to shop a fashion marketplace with @storageplatform, customize their clothing with help from @levis, and browse a photo show featuring local artists. They even fed the surrounding community (literally) with help from @onelovecommunityfridge. @planetflo_ stopped by to say hello to the friends and fans of @colorsxstudios.

Meet @dorothy.leconte, a 67-year-old Haitian-American driver of 37 years, with $269,000 in debt:

“I’ve been driving for 37 years. Today, it takes me an hour and a half just to get a fare. I want to talk to Eric Adams. He has allowed 11,000 more drivers, when there is no business. In my car I carry a red string, which I call the victory string. It’s from the 2021 hunger strike, where us cabbies did not eat for 15 days in order to force the city to help us. We eventually won a debt-relief deal, but some drivers were not included. This string means a lot to me—it’s not only for me, but for all the cab drivers who no longer have to work 7 days a week, more than 10 hours a day. I’m happy for them. But what about the drivers who still suffer? What about them? What about us? We are waiting, and we are tired. I’m the mother. I carry all of them.”
