They continue to support me in all of my cancer journeys and have been instrumental in my recovery.

I was diagnosed with cancer on October 22, 2019, with head and neck sarcoma, Cancer 1. I underwent 33 radiation treatments and 7 chemotherapy treatments. I became a survivor of Cancer 1 in September 2024.
In the summer of 2024, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, Cancer 2, and had my prostate removed in August 2024. While recovering from surgery, I had a cyst removed from my right cheek in November 2024. After examination and testing, it was determined to be facial carcinoma, Cancer 3.

Following the removal of both my prostate and the facial cyst, doctors determined that cancer remained in the surgical margins. As a result, I simultaneously underwent radiation therapy for both my prostate cancer and facial carcinoma, receiving 34 and 30 radiation treatments, respectively. For those keeping count, that brings my total to 97 radiation treatments.

I became the first cancer patient at The James to receive Proton and Photon radiation treatments simultaneously.
I will become a survivor of Cancers 2 and 3 in March 2030.

Personal Statement:
"CrossFit New Albany has helped me in so many ways to continually beat cancer. From the incredible community to the health benefits of working out, it has been an important part of my journey. #fcancer”

Thank you to Nemacolin for taking such amazing care of our family for 25 plus years. The team of amazing individuals that help create the most detailed, beautiful, intimate and life long experiences are beyond compare! This visit meant the world to us as they helped celebrate Crews bday, Riches three individual cancers, as he is a survivor of one and two more to continue to tackle. They knew I have been dealing with health issues as well and they went above and beyond to always make us feel like family. Anyone that has not traveled to see what this amazing family has built since 1987 we hope you can go to feel the magic, love, and care they create, and give with all that the resort offers and provides. Our hearts are full. @Nemacolin with love, Jochems family❤️ Some videos of Hardy’s holiday village. Such pure joy!

Destiny

@iubloomington @crewjochems first stepped on your campus during Covid, when Ohio University (my alma mater) played Virginia in Assembly Hall, before she made her decision to attend IU-destiny. As she narrowed her choice, we
re-visited the following summer with Nelson(our dog) in tow before he passed of cancer the summer before her freshman year-destiny. She was accepted as a direct admit to Kelley-destiny. During winter semester freshman year she joined her Mom’s sorority, AGD-destiny. IU beat Purdue and Ohio State in basketball when we visited her-destiny. We visited 10 schools on the journey to pick THE school (yes, that’s a dig) and IU won her heart, she became a Hoosier-destiny.

Bloomington, @visitbtown you won us over, from the people we met, like @iu_cocktail_guru (shout out to you Doug), who we met the night we dropped her at her dorm-destiny. Just some of the places we visited like, @upstairspub , @nicksenglishhut , @farmbloomington you were nothing but amazing as we navigated her time in B-town.

@crewjochems, you did it your way, you persevered through freshman year and popped right back up in your sophomore year with a new purpose and passion. Junior year you submersed yourself in your major & ventured to Chicago for a summer internship. Senior year you moved to 1004 and thrived with roommates, school and social life. Everything that happened at IU was destiny. You were destined to be there, meet the friends that you met, took the chances that you took and become the person you have become, it was destiny. As you leave Bloomington, know that you are destined to do great things and we will be your biggest supporters. Congratulations @crewjochems, college graduate.

Thank you @vintagerestyled and @kennedyg002 without you, destiny would not have happened
