10 years ago this month: A backstage interview with J.Cole in Abu Dhabi's Beats on the Beach Festival. This was an interesting moment as he just released his second album and he was touring like crazy. He arrived in the UAE a day after finishing his tour with Rihanna and played 3 shows in the UAE in 24 hours: The first was at the festival at 8pm, the second at a club at midnight and the third at another club at 2.30am. A few hours later he jumped back on the plane and headed to Europe to begin his UK tour. "Aint nobody working as hard as me," he said in our chat. His manager, sitting in the corner, laughed and said "yeah man! Those air miles aint for free!"

Big shout to the @flashentertainment family as they plan for @yasalamae again after the forced break that affected us all… some of our best gigs took place at this epic arena, can’t wait to see spaces like this packed and back in action during the @f1 and beyond 🇦🇪 shout out to everyone in @visitabudhabi 🙌🏼

Travis Scott's stage show is simply fire. Judging but what I experienced in @mawazine this week, we are in for a treat when Scott plays in Abu Dhabi in November. The best way to explain Scott’s interpretation of his recorded songs is that they are all performed in CAPS LOCK mode. As well as being a great live performer, Scott is also an underrated studio perfectionist. His albums sound woozy and atmospheric and that’s why they sound superb on headphones. But Scott knows that such a vibe doesn’t work on the stage of a live concert. So, when on tour he basically turns the intensity levels to 11 and hollers through the songs. It may all sound cacophonous in the beginning, but when they are paired with raging visuals and Scott’s mastery in whipping up the crowd, you just can’t help but be swept along by the whole affair.
