Provence is unquestionably the spiritual home of rosè but one area of the region in particular sets itself apart from the rest in terms of style, production, and prestige. The wines made in the commune of Bandol must be made with a minimum of 50% Mourvèdre, a thick-skinned red grape which lends an earthy spice quality as well as a deeper color to the finished wine. Despite the color, this rosé is bone-dry and amazing, the absolute perfect wine for a summer evening particularly for a special occasion, perhaps a birthday ?
