Campeones del Mundo. 🇪🇸🏆

I was lucky enough to witness it in person. A true once-in-a-lifetime experience. 🤩

I couldn’t be more proud and grateful.

Someone recently told me, “It’s not an adventure until something goes wrong.” Well… this one certainly qualified. Flight cancellations, a last-minute road trip, and plenty of moments where it felt like it just wasn’t meant to happen.

But sometimes the best memories are the ones you have to fight for.

A few days ago, I wrote about believing. About growing up supporting a Spain that had all the talent in the world but not always the belief. About how everything changed in 2008.

Today, I got to witness another chapter of that story with my own eyes.

And what makes this team even more special isn’t just that they became world champions. It’s how they did it—playing with humility, respecting the game, trusting one another, and reminding the world what football is truly about. A team before any individual, staying true to their identity from the first whistle to the last.

The journey to get there was unforgettable, but watching Spain lift the World Cup made every setback worth it.

Sadly, I don’t get to eat the cooking of @mclightner nearly as often as I would like, so when the opportunity comes along, I jump on it if I can.

I had been wanting to try the cooking of @diningwithflynn for some time as well. The stars aligned with this collaboration in Chef McGarry’s beautiful new restaurant, @cove.ny .

The service was warm and excellent, and the wine pairing was great fun, delicious and a wonderful value (as was the entire meal).

Making things even better was being joined by my great, long-time friend @joeyb_eats who also accompanied me to Atera the first time we had Chef Lightner’s cooking, and also running into a number of old friends at adjoining tables.

While I lament not being able to dine more frequently on Chef Lightner’s divine cooking, I look forward to a deeper dive into Chef McGarry’s!

Blanca was unequivocally one of of our favorite restaurants of all time.

Going through all of the photos of our prior meals there it still feels like a dream.

Stunning, intricately composed dishes with noticeable influences but yet unlike anything else. Are we in Brooklyn? Are we in Kyoto? Are we in Paris? No its BLANCA!

But wait they have a turntable and you can BYOR! Bring your own record at a two Michelin star restaurant🤯 And of course I did many, many times.

The ability to order pizza post tasting menu - this can’t be real! No its BLANCA!

This really must be a dream. No its BLANCA!

And the wine list! One of the early lists to mix classical and natural. They still have an amazing cellar and shockingly they have given me the keys💥

Before the concept of vibe became a thing Blanca defined VIBE💥

All led by the one and only GM Leslie aka @ballsdeeeep who we are eternally grateful for having such a profound impact on our life❤️

There will never be another Blanca. Never!

BUT the heart and soul plus some of the plates AND all of the WINE cellar are at @thefoulwitch and for one night only I will be doing a guest sommelier shift and curating a special selection from the Blanca cellar💥💥💥💥
