I've often felt stretched by time.
_____
Today I messaged my friend saying that i can't help but think I'm wasting my youth away. It's a naturally feeling to be in this sort of limbo age and have these concerns but i think we look at it the wrong way!
_____
Its a lesson most of us already know but forget or rather fervently ignore, in replace for useless self-deprecation. Feeling accomplished, feeling like you're not wasting time, does not come from accolade covered shelves or bags of money or early fame. You can still waste away time in those instances.
_____
It's about indulging in the moments that make you smile. It is about vulnerability in kindness rewarding you with the rare gems of friendship. It is about reminding your heart to beat. It is me placing my pen down, and admitting when writing can take a break to heal my soul. Even your passions deserve a rest from your tireless chasing. It is singing every monday and dancing with all might and passion, to forget embarrassment is ever a thing.
I find looking at it like that makes living a fuller life easier, proves that these moments are far simpler to find.

Its the summer of 2016. 21 years old and about to graduate from my Bachelors, the excitement is high all around my year and so are the emotions.
_____
Max, James and I are on our way to The Squares party, a celebration of the end of the educational year and of our degree. Alcohol is in the plenty, the sun is out for the moment, and as we approach the campus, music is already blaring, the sound of a frozen moment in time.
_____
The atmosphere is live and will stay so, right from 3pm to 3am just with gradual dispersals of students, tired and ready to go home, alleviated by this act of stress relief. But us, and our other friends that will join at later times or be found, drunk and overemotional in the bar, stay late and stay energetic.
_____
The day/night in which everyone reflects on the farewell of a time that so largely encompasses and inhabits each of their lives, is a conflicted one, but it is in such moments that I have never been happier.
______
Encouraged to be nostalgic, jovially mocking our existential predicaments and creating conspiracies and wild theories for our future. Who will we marry? Who will be arrested first? Who will end up on a game show? Ridiculous questions but entertaining to consider, especially with the help of enough spirits.
_____
In times of sadness, confusion and conflict and in times of reluctant decision making, in times when we are told to go to a happy place, a quiet beach, a barren field, I return here. I think back to my noisy, sticky, emotional, humiliating and hilarious University nights. I return back to these memories, and to the elation felt in such moments, and I remind myself that it is exactly those moments that deserve to be chased.
_____
Not jobs you don't like, not people, not money you don't know how to spend, not images of perfection unattainable, but pure unbridled, unconditional joy and nothing less.
