T shirt signing day!!
.
.
we passed around a marker today like it was ordinary. like signing your name on someone’s sleeve wasn’t the most quietly heartbreaking thing in the world. nobody said much. nobody had to. it was all there, in the way we held on a second too long, in the laughs that sounded almost like crying. somewhere between the first signature and the last, it hit us all at once. this is it. the halls, the chaos, the doing nothing together that somehow meant everything, it’s folding itself up and putting itself away. the child in us that survived every deadline, every all nighter, every we’ll figure it out, taking a final bow. life is clearing its throat. something serious is waiting at the door.

but for one afternoon, with marker stained sleeves and eyes that were just a little too glossy, we were still, completely, each other’s.
