Esse é o Chiang Mai Sky Lantern Festival, também conhecido como Yi Peng Festival, uma das celebrações mais encantadoras da Tailândia.

Realizado anualmente na cidade de Chiang Mai, geralmente em novembro, o festival coincide com o Loi Krathong, outro evento tradicional tailandês que celebra a gratidão e o desapego.

Essas lanternas, conhecidas como khom loi, simbolizam o ato de liberar preocupações e má sorte, além de trazer bênçãos e boa sorte para o futuro.

Yi Peng is a unique festival celebrated in the ancient Lanna Kingdom, where thousands of 'khom loi' (sky lanterns) are released into the night sky. Each glowing lantern carries with it the hopes, wishes, and prayers of the people, creating a truly magical atmosphere. The sight of these lanterns gracefully ascending into the heavens is a moment of pure wonder and a symbol of new beginnings.

It happens only once a year for two days, usually in November. Next year, it'll be held on November 24-25, 2026.

Regarding Waste Management For those who may be overthinking this matter, all materials used are natural and easily biodegradable.
