POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

After 25 years away, stepping back onto the stage at ASU’s Cultural Show at JMU was truely unforgettable. As a former ASU President who helped launch this tradition, I’m amazed to see how it has not only endured but thrived across the years. Back when we first kicked it off, I never imagined that a quarter-century later, the Cultural Show would still be alive, vibrant, and growing.

I am proud of the current executive board for carrying the torch, expanding the vision, and keeping this legacy strong. Thank you for giving me the chance to relive those memories and reconnect with a tradition I helped create!

Happy Asian Pacific Islander Desi-American Heritage Month from JMU students Nika Marapao and Khushi Rajkarnikar (featured in these photos)! While nationally celebrated in May, at JMU, we celebrate Asian Pacific Islander Desi-American Heritage Month in April.

“Happy Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month! This is a month to celebrate and honor the resilience, history, and contributions of our fellow Asian Pacific Islander Desi Americans—our stories, our voices, and our impact and contributions. As JMU students, we are surrounded by cultures from different parts of the world, enriching our experience as a Duke.

As we come together to celebrate APIDA Heritage Month, we are reminded of the traditions passed down through generations before us that have allowed us to be part of a community that embraces the unique identity and heritage of all our students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends. Creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and celebrated is part of being a Duke, and we love celebrating it at our home away from home!

Being part of a community is always special and celebrating all backgrounds with such pride gives us immense joy. With cultural organizations on campus such as @jmuasu, @jmuakdphi, @jmuvsa, @jmu.fam, @jmu.lphie and @sasa.jmu it’s been beautiful to see diversity being celebrated and people from all backgrounds engaging in appreciating the richness of APIDA Heritage Month.” Two students pose with their arms around each other’s shoulders under a blooming Cherry Blossom tree.
