A very brief and last minute, wonderful trip back home to celebrate my sisters wedding. ( big Thankyou to my friends who let me crash on your couches)

Feeling very blessed I was able to step away from work to attend the ceremony, it was so lovely to see my family altogether and dance in celebration for my sister.

I just wish I had more time to see more faces. I'll aim to be back for another trip after the snow season with more time to spend with friends and fam as im realising, that it's not enough to watch the world I outside the mountains through this little glowing social media rectangle.

And though I'm comfortable in my own company,
my cup is fullest after spending time in the company of those I love, where we can adventure, embrace, laugh, sing, dance, and play.

❤️‍🔥✨️🌌🫂

To all the goddesses I've met (I've not got photos of all of them) and those that love them, Happy International Women's Day.

Life is busy, take a moment to pause and listen to a rhythm passed down from my ancestors, who walked on Country more than 65,000 years ago.

This is my father, an elder of the Dabee people, playing the yidaki (didgeridoo), signed by the entire Australian Cricket Team 1988. I now have the honour of caring for it for a time.

Watch until the end to see a small personal moment I wanted to share.

The day after the Sunset Soiree at Kandosia House with @stefanorocco18 : some feedback rolled in like a gentle breeze.

First live music event in 3 years after an intentional pause. I had a private gathering in a newly developing community with this Sunset Soiree at home; “Kandosia” & featured the silky smooth improvised jazz musicians performing instrumental original compositions by #stefanoroccoquartet from Sydney. They played music from both his albums and the stand in drummer and bass player had only two rehearsals. We also surprised everyone with a few guest vocalists to mix up the dynamics of the event. Stefano and the guys were such good sports and highly talented to facilitate our singing on the spot to celebrate a community vibe, Special mention to @rachelhannan3 and @kristina_frazer
***The next one is 14th Feb 2026 with #WeMavericks and then #KristianMizzi on 24th October 2026.
If you are a friend and want to come, just DM me and i’ll add you to the private invitation list.***
House concerts are a great way for generous souls to pitch in collectively to make a positive impact on the music scene offering dignified performance opportunities with decent cashola to the muso’s via donation. Not all music is designed to be played in a pub.
You might even like to host one where ever you live?
After some more not for profit events at home, I will venture back into the public domain again with a team to share the joy with the greater community. I treasure the magical moments shared with music lovers over the 13 yrs prior to Sept 2022 as a producer / promoter/ curator so cross fingers for the imminent 2nd chapter with a growing team of big lifters. Grateful that #Wirrumbilli #NEWCO was our wet weather back up venue. Glad that the sun came out on cue, and even the stars and moon too. Thank you to the band, my stage and sound crew including the playlist by Leigh plus, venue set up, catering supports plus guest singers and washing up the next day. And especially, those of you who contributed your presence and donation to make it a THING. With house concerts I donate about 100 hours incrementally from inception to completion so if you are generous hearted and want to sling in some “helping” for the sake of everyone, DM me for future Sunset Soirees. Together we make it happen😘

Camping and dancing under stars like this, roasting marshmallows, mum’s pavlova, no phone service, bush golf, swimming in the kydra, next gen of kids running a muck barefoot in the kangaroo grass and 50+ of the Swain crew playing bad Santa made for a pretty special Christmas.

If you joined us at Cementa24, whether as audience, artist, volunteer or team, please PLEASE give us 5 minutes of your time to take the festival survey, via the link in our bio or the QR code at the back of our program 🙏

Please also ask your friends and family that joined.

Cementa is a free festival thanks to government funding from @creatensw, @creative.australia & @destination_nsw and the support of our patrons and sponsors. We rely on survey feedback for our annual Impact Report (prior reports are on our website ‘Support’ page via the link in our bio) and acquittals.

The survey can be anonymous and includes opportunities to provide feedback on your festival experience.

Thank you!

Only 1 month to go! ⏰ Register via the link in our bio and tell your friends that if they want to see you between 19-22 September, they are going to have to come to the festival!

If you haven’t yet booked accommodation, check the tips on our website, including Mudgee hotels and Ganguddy camping, and get in touch for public transport options to Kandos.

The Cementa team is buzzing around, pulling all the pieces together into what we believe will be one of the best festivals yet. Check out cementa.com.au for the schedule of events over four days and nights, curated by Daniel Mudie Cunningham & Jo Albany. Link in bio.

See you in Kandos in September!! 💃 🕺

*Repost via @wayout.artspace:
To celebrate NAIDOC Week, WAYOUT hosted a free 2 day workshop conceived by proud Dabee Wiradjuri person and Cementa24 artist, Lauren Swain. The workshop invited young people and the young-at-heart to transform WAYOUT into an immersive koala habitat made from recycled materials. At the end of the 2 days, the space became a world for the community to share the indoor bush environment and learn more about how to advocate for beautiful barrandhang (koalas) of BARA LUE that are under threat by Bowdens toxic Lead Mine. Lauren was unable to attend the workshop, but her wonderful family and community swooped in to make sure the workshop and party went ahead. Huge shout out to Sophia Derkenne, Joanne Albany, Renee Ford, Peter Swain, Maddison O’Brien and all the wonderful community activists who contributed. This Cementa project will become part of Cementa24 festival.
