#ImiesClassicsChallenge 2026 book 2: Dracula by Bram Stoker

The most beautiful edition for an utterly gorgeous read. I was so lucky to be sent the @fourcornersbooks edition of Dracula for book club and I have swooned over it so many times. I sadly can’t make the book club session now due to my stupid back but I couldn’t resist taking the opportunity to rave about Dracula, reading this edition, and everything vampires.

Dracula is something I’ve wanted to read for a long time, I went into this thinking I knew the basic idea of Dracula but realised I was wrong (blame 10 year old Imie watching Van Helsing at a friends house). This is a multi POV story written through journal entries, articles and letters. It’s about good vs evil, faith, fear of the unknown, and so much more. All drenched in gothic vibes.

I think this is my favourite read for book club, it just captured me and I loved reading it. It was so interesting building the narrative through the different points of view and having the very personal lens of a journal. The specific edition I was reading added to this experience by having different typography for each character’s writings so it really felt like I was building the narrative from fragments which was such a fascinating experience.

I’m really excited for the pile of books I have which I’ve been saving until I had read this one. Things like Carmilla, The Historian, The Brides and other vampiric tales. I think the vampire in literature is such an interesting motif as it can represent so much so I’m excited to read all of these. And now I can say I’ve read the OG vampire novel.

Thank you again @fourcornersbooks for my gorgeous copy which I will treasure and (as always) to @jo.readsalot for organising such a great book club. Sad I won’t be able to chat about this one with the gang but hopefully will be back for the next one.

Have you read Dracula? What did you think? 🧛
