sun 22 mar 2026 // my family is always on my mind and i miss them every day. during my visit last august it was perfect timing to see my eldest niece off to her first year of college, and i observed my youngest niece taking the driver’s seat! i am infinitely proud of them both for the people they are and who they are becoming. we all live in different areas with a variety of schedules therefore i find it special when we can converge for some quality time. i describe minnesota summers like stepping into the film “snow white”, and this audio aptly portrays the sounds of a day in the life. we hiked and witnessed many many lake views and soothing sunsets. we joined for meals and celebrated a birthday and shopped. pianos and french horns were played, breads were baked from scratch. we had laughter and we had tears. i love them.

Tues 30 Nov 2021 // the holidays are known for being a particularly joyous time of year, and certainly I have much for which to be grateful, and an abundance of reasons to celebrate. this time of year is also a very difficult time for many, a time that can amplify feelings of sadness and loneliness, trauma, grief and loss. i hold acceptance and space for the spectrum of experiences we will have this season, and appreciate the multiple truths - the happiness and laughter, the sorrow and tears, the solemn, and the exuberant! it all belongs. this is the first of many gratitude posts i am committing to over the coming weeks. pictured here are my parents. they are constants in my life, always there when i call, loving me through the challenges and rooting for my happiness and success. it was an amazing experience having them out to visit in september; time well spent and memories i treasure! 📸: Jo

Wed 15 Sept 2021 // Yesterday for the very first time, my parents traveled by airplane, all the way to California. It was a really big deal! But they did it, everything went well, and I’m so excited they are here. On our way out of LAX my mom said, “I heard we should try In-N-Out Burger!” 😄 My gratitude for these humans runs deep as I see the love and support between us continue to grow.

Sun 7 Oct 2018 // Two of my weekends during the past month have included visits from my family. I appreciate our time together and how we pick up where we last left. It’s always been, and will continue to be, family first. 💛 (look closely and you will see Tiny peeping at me)
