I have an amazing announcement about my film Dungeon of Deceit -- my ode to 80s text adventure games/family drama is now live on @omeleto , which is a huge YouTube channel for short films. If you really like omelets, think of them as the omelet of short film content. A link to the film is in my bio, and I definitely would love to hear what you think about it!

I had the idea for this film when I was thinking about how much scarier computer games mainly based around text were than the photorealistic graphics in modern games. The text only presentation made me really engage my imagination in a way that seeing a super-anatomically correct zombie in a current game doesn't. I combined this with my own use of games as a kid to escape from the messiness and conflict of the world to come up with this project.

Anyway, I'm as always endlessly grateful for the team who helped me put this together and I hope their work in this film gets the recognition it deserves.

🎙️ EPISODE 6 IS NOW LIVE

Here is an extract of us chatting to @joanna_ke about the use of AI for companies to seemingly ‘promote’ diversity. We mention futurist @sineadbovell who talks about instances of companies creating diverse avatars but not necessarily having anyone diverse on the pay roll. Are we ok with this as a society? And what impacts is this going to have? There is also a fine line between representation and cultural appropriation with the use of AI which again brings up questions about what is ethically ok?

@joanna_ke on her foresight into the future and what it might mean for the diversity, specifically for multiracial people, that we see on screen if AI is unregulated. AI regulation is one of the key issues that @sagaftra is currently fighting for!

This conversation is in reference to her own experience of being on set and a director asking her to do the take again but this time with her eyes more open to appear wider. When she did so, the director was then happy and proceeded to show her the monitor and tell her that she should always do this when acting as it looked better. The director didn’t seem to realise that she is in fact mixed race (Taiwanese, Polish and Irish). This goes to show that if others are in charge of how we look on screen, (something that will happen if AI is unregulated) our performances and looks will be subject to how they approve of us looking and the progress we’ve made in diversity could be lost.

🎙️ Episode 6 out now!

💫 Meet @joanna_ke who chats to us all about her incredibly eye opening article titled ‘Why AI is a Threat to Cultural Diversity and Cultural Progress’ published on @mixedasianmedia website.

🎥 Joanna Ke is a multifaceted voice that thrives in the industry as a writer, actor, script consultant, and producer. She champions diverse stories led by women both behind and in front of the camera.
Under her production company, Saint Joan productions, Joanna wrote, produced, and starred in the fantasy action film Protectress, which won 11 awards, in the film festival circuit, including Best Fantasy, Best Action, and Best Performance.
Joanna runs the twitter account @femcharacters, highlighting the unfortunate way women are often portrayed on screen. She has been a regular contributing writer for two industry blogs, We ScreenPlay & Ms in the Biz.

She’s a force to be reckoned with!

Don’t miss out on this thought-provoking episode. The @sagaftra fight for actors took on a whole new meaning for us after this conversation! ✊🏼 Listen now and help us in the progression of diversity and the responsible use of AI❗️
