Huge congratulations to the clarinet selections of the Philharmonia and Wind Symphony for their beautiful performances this week! Bravi tutii! CCM Philharmonia concert opened with the brass fanfare from Paul Dukas’ La Péri. Caroline Shaw’s playful Entr’acte follows, and the evening closes with Gustav Mahler’s radiant Symphony No. 4 in G . CCM Wind Symphony’s colorful program moved from celebration to heartfelt song to sheer virtuosity: • Gao Hong – Celebration • Percy Grainger – Colonial Song • Donald Grantham – J’ai été au bal • Carlos Simon – Sweet Chariot • Paul Hindemith – Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber Our clarinets sang their hearts out on both nights. Thank you for your tremendous musicianship!

We loved having Tibi Cziger over for his masterclass at CCM! He showed us useful techniques to improve projection, like using vowel sounds, humming into the clarinet, and the positioning of the mouthpiece in the mouth. He also emphasized the importance of learning not only the notes on the page but understanding the character and emotional intent of each piece. Congrats to Joya, Tony, Joaquin, and Huai Xuan for their excellent performances! Huge thank you to Tibi Cziger for his detailed teachings!

We learned a lot from Dr. Victor Chavez during his masterclass on Monday! After his performance of Kovacs: Homage a Manuel De Falla, his masterclass detailed mechanics of playing the clarinet, including air, embouchure, and the intricacies of tongue position, as well as the little phrasing decisions we can make to enhance our musicality. We're all very grateful for his advice and teachings! Congratulations to Abby, Amay, and Joaquin for performing so well! We're proud of y'all!

🎵 #concierto #clarinete #clarinetista #clariperu #clarinetebajo
