My first wedding in Berlin. And another version of the city I hadn’t met yet.

I’ve been thinking about this day ever since. Idk when, if it was the vows, the happy crying or at the dance floor with all that amount of dancing we had, but I couldn’t help thinking: oh. If I ever get married, I think I this is pretty close to what I would want.

During his vows, David talked about one of the moments he realised he wanted to spend his life with Enrique. He was buying cat food.

Cat food.

Nothing grand or particularly romantic. Just one of those mundane moments in a life together. And there he was, in the supermarket knowing he wanted to keep buying cat food with him for the rest of it. And that really got me.

I still want romance, otherwise I couldn’t call myself a Jane Austen fan. I’m still waiting for Mr Darcy to appear through the morning mist at the Wasserturm and tell me he has struggled in vain and can repress his feelings no longer. I am who I am. But gosh, I want the cat food too. The tenderness of the ordinary. The comfortable silences and even the arguments. I want to find calm in someone without having to become calmer myself. Someone who can make room for all my movement, ideas, intensity and chaos, and also let me make room for theirs. Watching David and Enrique has also taught me how beautiful it can be to have so much in common and so little at the same time. To remain entirely yourselves and still build a life in that sweet in-between.

And what a life gathered around them that day. An intercultural Berlin wedding, journalists - forever my favourite social animals - and mis divas virtuales absolutely delivering on the outfits.

They gave me not only my first wedding in this city, they gave me another Berlin to love. Aaand most important, it reminded me how fucking lucky I am to have these people in my life, and to witness love like this with my own eyes🧡

Y ahora… Madrid, y sobretodo @herr_vier, prepárate porque ¡allá voy! 🚀
