New work premiering in just a few weeks! Catch this in the Dovetail 3320 Dance Series Festival running over the next two weekends. We'll be sharing this the second weekend --- October 23rd & 24th (Link in bio for tickets) Residue Edging explores the intoxicating space between wanting and having. Tracing what happens when anticipation becomes the destination itself, the wanting more consuming than the having, the fantasy more alive than the thing. Through cycles of restraint and release, and the body's relationship to delayed desire, the piece lives in the in-between: stuck, waiting, buzzing. The dancers trace the arc from fantasy to euphoria to deflation, using humor and physical tension to hold the absurdity of how much of life we spend suspended in wanting. . . Throwing it back to the dress rehearsal of my work “Rosie” for the Dance City Festival Chicago Showcase! My work was presented in this exceptional festival two weeks ago today(!) alongside other selected choreographers and companies from across the United States. Reprising this complex, whimsical, and emotional work was a gift, and working with Gabby and Jocelyn again made my heart sing. Will “Rosie” have another life soon? You will have to wait and see! Today, I’m just feeling grateful to get to do what I love. Thanks again to @dancecityfestival_ for the opportunity to perform in your Chicago festival. Tiny Dances is a professional dance community event celebrating original works performed on a 4’ x 4’ stage set in the round. The intimate format of TINY DANCES invites artists to explore movement in miniature within a community-centered, high-energy atmosphere. This iteration of Tiny Dances at Dorothy will feature 11 original works by Chicago dance artists. From solos to quartets, hip hop to contemporary, Tiny Dances brings BIG energy!
