For decades, the answer to almost every swimming problem was the same - swim more.

But after years of interviewing Masters world champions, coaches, strength specialists and sports scientists, I’m seeing a different trend emerge.

The swimmers continuing to improve into their forties, fifties, sixties and beyond aren’t necessarily training more.

They’re training with more purpose. Strength. Power. Race pace. Recovery. Skills.

In my latest article, The Power Shift: Why Quality Is Replacing Quantity in Masters Swimming, I explore what may be a quiet shift taking place throughout the sport.

Featuring insights from @martinbennell @swimming_strong @aquastrengthperformance
@dandaly @jocorbenswim @antonycorben @cinmabes

Do you think Masters swimming is becoming more quality-focused?

👇 I’d love to hear your thoughts.

What a month August has been! Competing at Worlds was the most exciting and rewarding experience. As so many others have posted before me, it is really all about the people you meet, the conversations you have and shared joy of this wonderful sport called swimming ❤️🏊‍♀️ ❤️

This week we catch up with Matthew Brooks, Jo Corben and Kath Tunnicliffe for three different perspectives on the World Aquatics Masters Championships in Singapore.

Hear about Matthew’s insanely fast relay split as well as his championship record setting 50m freestyle. Listen to Jo talk about how having team mates around helped elevate her performances to claim four gold medals (and a load of records!)

Kath Tunnicliffe concludes with stories of adventure and how she turned four fourth place finishes into a stunning silver medal on the final day of the championships.

🌍 World Masters Champ 200IM!

So happy with that. Three months ago couldn’t move my left arm, two months ago couldn’t swim fly. Full respect to @giselicaetanopereira on an amazing backstroke leg… with 15m to go on the freestyle, she was still in the lead.

Never give up 💪🏼 Thanks to the GB crew for the very loud cheer at the end 😊

Well done @jocorbenswim on 🥇& @price_allie on 🥉plus the newfound synchro skills!

Gloucester’s Masters meet on 27 April was a hugely successful competition for the
small group of Trojans who competed there.

They came away with an incredible:

World Record for Jo in the 55-59 years 200 backstroke, she also broke the European Record in the 100 backstroke & British Record in the 50 backstroke.

The team won 4 gold, 5 silver & 4 bronze medals & swam 8 personal bests from 15 swims.

Congratulations Sorrell, Sarah, Steph, Coach Tony & Jo!
