Workshop Announcement 📣 We have a new date for the Introduction to Sustainable Signage workshop! This workshop is for emerging artists who are curious about weaving sustainability into their art, curatorial practices and exhibition-making practices. The FOFA Gallery’s Sustainability team will share an overview of different approaches to eco-friendly exhibition signage, drawing from a shared collaboration with the FOFA Gallery’s Exploring Sustainability Across the Arts Signage Toolkit and their Sustainable Signage Menu. The session will include short presentations and plenty of time to try out different materials and methods hands-on. It’s a chance to test, play, and think together about how small design choices can shape more sustainable practices in the arts. In English with Joé Côté-Rancourt and Josh Jensen, Sustainability Co-curators at the FOFA Gallery Wednesday, July 15th from 5:00pm - 7:00pm In person - EV Building, 2nd Floor, Room 2.776 @joe.c_r @josh.jensen Link in bio to register! @fineartsconcordia @concordia.alumni @fofagallery @artchmtl

This Saturday is the last day to visit the 2026 Undergraduate Student Exhibition at the @fofagallery 🥀 Ce samedi est le dernier jour pour visiter l’exposition des étudiant•e•s de premier cycle à la Galerie FOFA. I’ll be there from 10 am to 4 pm if you want to say hi 🌝 j’y serai entre 10h et 16h si vous voulez passer dire allô. I can’t believe it’s almost over 🥲 it’s been a pleasure to curate a show with this incredibly talented group of artists: @marie.k.artist @glarouche.art @genevieve_a_une_idee @negsdoesartstuff @kelly.halseth @cat.a.loupe @katyuesun @noahthegranoah @repei.makes @reneemadethis @taparanku @_esther.clarke_ The beautiful title wall was made with a curtain coated in cyanotype emulsion which has been reacting to uv light for 6 weeks now, making us discover new colors and shades every morning coming to work. Third photo shows the color on the first day we installed the curtains. Fourth photo shows the color today exactly 6 weeks after. The letters were made with recycled pulp, laser cut and hand-sewn together. A collective effort by the dreamiest team @joe.c_r @josh.jensen @clara.jaune @cockillage @gwynnefulton Stay tuned for news about the catalogue coming soon 🌚 Photos 1 and 2 by Guy L’Heureux.

CURRENT PROGRAMMING | PROGRAMMATION ACTUELLE 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 “Dreams linger between cyanotype skies, paper stars, and orange glossy ribbon roads. Unresolved yet alive, twisted yet expanding, these roads lead to a dense forest inhabited by lurking creatures and dispersed fragments of life. I encounter this forest and slip into a fever dream. Two weeks ago, we welcomed Concordia MFA students for our Introduction to Sustainable Signage workshop, where we explored some of the sustainable signage techniques we’ve used in our recent exhibitions. We loved sharing some of our favourite methods and recipes—from homemade charcoal paint, laser-cut stencils, and chine-collé.  Have questions about sustainable signage? Our toolkit is available for free download on our sustainability webpage (accessible via our Linktree).  More workshops are coming this winter—join us to explore methods you can bring into your own practice!

~ Crédit photo au meilleur @antoinelussier ~ #biobasedmaterials #biobased #biodesign #sustainability #circulareconomy #biomaterials #circulardesign #materials #biodegradable #design #material #bioplastics #futurematerials #bioart #materialscience #anthropocene #samples #sustainlab #sustainablesesign #foodwaste #biopolymers #gelatin #architecturaldesign #sustainablematerials #greenpackaging #biobasedbouwen #futuretechnology #futurematerialsbank #ecofriendly

🌿 Jardin terrasse
—  🌿 Rooftop Garden
This summer, the FOFA Gallery and the Guido Molinari Foundation have partnered to cultivate a rooftop garden composed primarily of dye plants and pollinator plants. With species such as indigo, scabiosa, dyer’s chamomile, and black-eyed Susan, the garden will provide sustainable signage for upcoming exhibitions at the FOFA Gallery, and support educational activities at the Guido Molinari Foundation.  This collaboration grew out of conversations between Camille Bédard (Associate Curator and Sustainability Officer at the Guido Molinari Foundation) and Josh Jensen & Joé Côté-Rancourt (Co-Curators of Sustainability at FOFA), united by a shared vision for more ecologically engaged artistic practices. 🌱  Big thanks to @urbanseedling and Hélène Vogel (@jeunesseausoleil.sunyouth ) for their contributions to this initiative.  Stay tuned for future garden updates!

SUSTAINABILITY / ÉCORESPONSABILITÉ 🌱  Two weeks ago, we had the opportunity to partake in a thoughtful roundtable on plastic use in the arts, and the role of artists in the “Plasticocene.”  Thank you to Oonagh Fitzgerald for hosting the panel as part of their program 𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘦, and to Kelly Jazvac, Eldad Tsabary, and Maria Fitzgerald for generously sharing how they address plastic pollution in their practices—and how they navigate the eco-anxiety that often comes with it.  Thank you to 4TH SPACE for hosting and broadcasting the conversation. A recording of the panel is now available on the 4TH SPACE YouTube channel.
