APEC Soccer Power Development: Move Mass Fast

If you want to stand out on the field, you need more than effort, you will need power.
It’s about how fast you can produce force in different situations when it matters the most.

That’s why power development is important: it directly impacts your speed, explosiveness, and ability to execute under pressure. Without it, you’re always a step behind.

Train it with intent:
move fast, jump from different positions, and challenge yourself in game-like situations.

Because when your power improves, everything on the field becomes more dangerous and that’s when you start separating yourself. Which is why I’ll compete with them. Why else would I train when a friendly competition and bet is on the line

It’s to raise your standard. When there’s something on the line, your intent changes. Your focus sharpens. You stop going through the motions and start producing real output. That competitive edge is what brings out the power you actually have

Better luck this time around gents. Eli just felt bad for you boys @markgraham08 & Tony

APEC Summer Change of Direction ⚽️

Change of direction is one of the most important qualities in soccer because the game is rarely played in straight lines. Every cut, turn, deceleration, and re-acceleration can be the difference between creating space or losing possession. The athletes who can stop under control and explode into a new direction separate themselves on both sides of the ball.

Training change of direction helps develops body control, balance, coordination, reaction time, and force production. Soccer players learn how to absorb force efficiently, lower their center of mass, and redirect energy into faster movements. This translates directly to sharper cuts, quicker recoveries, better defending angles, and more explosive attacking movements.

A strong change of direction foundation also helps mitigate injury risk. Athletes who can decelerate properly place less unnecessary stress on the knees, ankles, and hips. Learning how to control speed before re-accelerating teaches athletes to move efficiently and safely during high-intensity moments of the game.

Come see what this summer at APEC is about. Spots are filling up.

There are levels to this 📚

The ability to decelerate, reaccelerate, and explode into space is what creates separation and shuts it down just as fast. You must build the brakes!

That’s why we coach CoD with intent. Teaching the brain to command the body, sharpening reactions, and building the strength to cut with control under chaos.

But there are two secrets to this. One, don’t tell all your secrets. What’s our secret? We coach athletes not just to move, but to master movement building the foundation so they can express high performance when it matters most.

Master the basics, excel through performance

Vert 🐰 = Speed⚡️ ?

Recent research shows that elite soccer players average a vertical jump of 35-40 cm, and those who can generate higher vertical force often translate that into being faster on-field speed.

Why? Because vertical jump is more than just airtime as it’s a reflection of your ability to produce force quickly. Different methods from CMJ, SJ, RJ and RSI can help with variations to seek this output.

The study also found moderate to strong correlations between vertical jump height and sprint performance. That means when you train to improve your vertical, the higher you jump there is a higher possibility of you getting faster, more explosive, and more efficient when covering ground.

Utilizing this power transfer being able to shift your strength from horizontal sprinting to vertical explosiveness, and vice versa. This crossover is what separates average players from elite ones. Not the end all be all but it helps.

Train it. Track it. Use it.

Violent in Acceleration, Make Peace with Top Speed ⚡️

In soccer, you’re constantly shifting gears—exploding off the line, then opening up your stride into full speed. The goal is making that transition seamless. When your mechanics flow smoothly from powerful, short strides into long, efficient ones, you conserve energy, cover more ground, and stay dangerous every second of the sprint.

It’s about moving with intent and control. Whether you’re chasing a through ball, pressing on defense, or breaking away from a defender, the ability to accelerate and smoothly rise into top speed keeps you one step ahead.

Train the blend. Own the flow. Change the game.
