When I was pregnant I was so anxious that as a mom I would lose sight of myself (because that’s what the world often tells you). I could not have been more wrong. As a mother I am more of myself; life is much more full. How could it not be when you say “yes” to what the Lord is asking of you? Yes, motherhood requires sacrifice, as all love does. And yes, through sacrificial love the Lord draws us deeper into His Most Sacred Heart.

“This is my body, which will be given up for you”. The words that the Lord spoke during the last supper, the words that are proclaimed at every Mass, and the words I am reminded of in all the ways my body has nurtured this life during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

My heart aches because I just can’t adequately put into words what being a mom means to me! Truly, it is just the greatest and wildest adventure. But those are some of my reflections on my second Mother’s Day.

Happy Mother’s Day to all women in any stage of motherhood! You are doing good work!

Life is a gift. Count it all as joy!

Gemma Madeline is a daughter of God and an heir to the kingdom! Her baptism; the most important day of her whole life.

We are so excited to continue raising her in the Church we love so much. Welcome to the body of Christ, sweet baby!

Us and our girl :)

Being parents together and really does get sweeter everyday! Joe is truly the best father and husband, constantly doting on us girls and seeking how to best love us. We have the best support system of family and friends. Gemma is just everything beautiful and good.
