Injuries are THE best teachers.

…They aren’t the most “fun” teachers, but if you listen to them, you learn so much.

This was my first run of 2026, and I have been sidelined due to a knee injury.

My knee has been acting up lately due to overtraining and a little GOUT flare-up. The big four-letter word. More on this journey in future posts and stories.

It started with a lot of medial knee pain, swelling, and an inability to use my knee. Because of this, my quad totally atrophied and got weaker due to not using the damn thang!

Fast forward three weeks—because I haven’t been training normally, my knee has been telling me, “No, Ro! You can’t run yet!!!”

Until today!!!

—
What I learned from this:

1. There are some biomechanical things I’m neglecting. I could probably work through movements slower (especially anything squat-based).

2. I need to make changes with inflammation in my joints (gout), I need to make deeper changes in my nutrition and the quality of sleep I get.

3. Slow and steady!!! Wins the race. I believe my uptick in training was due to my own constraints around upcoming races. I have goals this year with my buddy @joedea to complete a HYROX + more. That being said, it’s important to have everything dialed in.

—

Note to you: If you’re going through an injury, think and reflect on what you could do better. Big picture—are you overtraining? Under-recovering? Are you under more stress than usual? Are you powering through workouts and falling apart in your technique?

If you don’t know, then it’s okay to get help and build a support system in your movement journey. Feel free to reach out to me.🙏💪🤌🤝

Ain't nothing like a Warriors win during the holiday season.

Forgot how fun it was to watch the dubs live and talk hoops with friends.

For once this since we had a comfortable win 🤣🤣

Gotta go again soon.
