Garden Tour No. 1 feat. @joeeestrada

I was truly inspired by the amount of time, effort, and care put into this garden space right here in the City of Columbus. Not only did I get to visit and chat with a passionate and talented friend, but I was sent home with a wonderful bag of goodies, including cucumbers, peppers, cherry tomatoes, and extra plants for our garden. Learning from and sharing with other gardeners and plant enthusiasts is one of my favorite things to do, and this was such an honor. I had some follow up questions for Joell’e to share with you, and her responses are below!

Q1: What first got you interested in gardening?
J: My mother had a wrap around garden in an acre of land at the house I grew up in at my hometown in Iowa. She was always working in it and it was magical to spend time with her there.

Q2: What advice would you give to someone who wants to garden but isn’t sure where to start?
J: I was inspired by gardening from spending time with my grandma watching her rip out dead things while showing me things in the garden. A good way to get into it I think would be to spend time with elders, family and friends and learn from them. Community gardens are becoming more common in Columbus, go and talk to the people working in there and offer help.

Q3: If you could grow only 3 plants, what would those be?
J: Cucumbers, watermelon and green peppers!

More to come on this series! Thank you again Joell’e 🌞

2024 is the year where I crashed and burned beautifully.
I took some huge steps in order to stop being my own enemy. I took my destiny into my own hands. I learned how I want to be treated and how I don't want to be treated. I met some amazing people that changed how I view friendships and furthered the connections with the day ones in my life.
If you were apart of my journey this year I am so fucking greatful for you. Especially if you met me at the crashing/burning period.
2025 is the year I fully intend to step into my power as a woman, artist, musician, friend, and community member 🌟
