Stopped by one of the oldest and greatest bars and eateries in the city for brunch, The Rowley Inn, which opened in 1906 and is located at 1104 Rowley Ave. in Tremont.

Had a great conversation with Clevelander Joe Buildt, who previously lived in South Dakota but has called Old Brooklyn home for the past five years. In addition to working at this Cleveland classic, Joe also previously worked at Velvet Dog. I told him to hang on to his old Velvet Dog hat, it’ll be a cool vintage piece now that the spot has closed.

Joe shared that he has a WMMS tattoo in honor of his late great-aunt, Betty Korvan, one of the original members of the WMMS family. He told some great stories about growing up in a music-loving family, where his relatives made him memorize the names of 1970s and 1980s rock band members as part of his upbringing. It worked, Joe remains a passionate fan of all kinds of music thanks to his legendary local aunt.
