Braved the heat and headed to @leducartwalk today and I'm so glad I did. The artwork was absolutely exceptional. Being a leather lover, my attention immediately shifted to @jofrostleatherwork booth. What absolutely phenomenal pieces. I had to bring home this gorgeous little crossbody bag. It's the perfect size and I can see myself getting so much use out of it. And you all know I can't resist leather flowers. This one is absolutely stunning and unique. If you have the chance, definitely head out to the event. If you don't have the chance, definitely check out Jo's leather pieces on her IG.

Story time:
About 18 months ago my mother asked me to fix her friend’s sandals. The sandals were simple with a little flower on the top and one missing flower. I agreed to try so they mailed them up to me from Florida.

This project seemed simple enough at first but I just couldn’t find the time to learn how to do it. And so, the sandals “fell behind the workbench” and were all but forgotten.

Every time I chatted with my mom she would ask about the sandals.👡 but I had no plans to finish them. Too many distractions and too many other projects.

Until about a week ago I was flippin through IG and saw @jofrostleatherwork posting leather flowers for one of her upcoming shows.

I instantly knew she would get me out of a couple of jams and so I ordered two flowers. They came today and I’ve added them to the sandals. Shipping from Canada can be expensive and time consuming but these came pretty fast with no issues.

Hooray! Thanks so much to Jo Frost for taking on the challenge so quickly. Working with her to get these custom flowers was easy and she went the extra mile to make sure they were sized correctly and look great.

I love our community of leathercrafters. Being a part of this group of amazing people over the last few years has been so impactful for me. Never forget to reach out and get to know your fellow crafters.

Art Walk Artist Spotlight

Joanne Frost of JF Leather Designs

"Hello! My name is Jo Frost and I live in the south area of Edmonton. When not building leather goods I enjoy travel, bike riding, walking my dog and hanging out with friends. I tried several different arts before landing on leatherwork. I love the feeling of the leather and how many different items I can build. I have no formal training but have attended local classes and spend hours(probably too many ! ) watching what others do on YouTube."
