July 9th - July 12th, 2026: The Haitian Men’s National Team competed in its first Americup Qualifier in 8 years. Our program finished 3 and 1 in pool play. These three victories over the countries of Grenada, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, and The Cayman Islands marked the first ever official FIBA wins in the HISTORY of Haiti’s Basketball Federation. The depth of my appreciation for the responsibility to serve Haiti as Head Coach of its Men’s National Team is truly indescribable.

To the Players: you all committed to playing a style of basketball that represents the resiliency and unity of your country. From 20 hour travel days, to two-a-day practices in Miami with only 7 of our rostered players for training camp due to uncontrollable visa issues, to a disappointing loss in game one to Barbados that could have easily splintered our cause. You all dug deeper to remain connected. As a result, you laid a foundation for an identity that will help this program one day not only become a force in the Americas, but more importantly serve as a reason for why basketball must be recognized as a legitimate vehicle for social change for Haitians. What you all did was bigger than the results of either winning or losing. In the process of making history, you’ve inspired a new wave of motivated people that view basketball as a means for improving a life. And for that, you all are legendary.

To the Staff: The sacrifices we have all made since 2018 to keep this mission alive are nothing short of remarkable. It took us years to find a collective of individuals who live through the higher purpose of serving others. The only agenda anyone ever had within our group was to see everyone win. And that’s rare. I’m so proud of everyone who played a part in turning dreams into reality. This was an unbelievable TEAM effort that marks the beginning of a special journey.

To the World: It is imperative that we stop viewing basketball as an abstract concept within Haitian culture. With proper BELIEF and investment, we can build a sustainable program that proves how basketball can indeed change a life for you a young boy or girl in Haiti.

🖤 KADERNEWS | THANK YOU, JOHN! ❤️
