Still riding the high from this one! 🎬✨

A huge THANK YOU to all of our friends, attendees, speakers (the incredible @johnaoshima @callaird @alishawainwright), and partners who made the second annual @productionexchange mixer so special.

220 of you showed up (!!) — from LA and literally around the globe 🌎 — to connect, catch up with decade-long friends, make new ones, share ideas, and learn from some truly incredible people.

This industry can be challenging, unpredictable, and a little crazy… but nights like this remind us why we love it so much. There’s nothing better than bringing together a community of people who genuinely want to connect, collaborate, inspire each other, and make great things.

@ashlasoter and I are so grateful to everyone who has helped @productionexchange continue to grow. ❤️🎥

And somehow, we’re only getting started. See you at the next one!

“There’s a real human message here,” says [John] Aoshima. “We’re showing a positive approach to creativity and how it gets made, coming from the right place, from the human soul, and connects with people. It’s about this family, about this boy, wanting to ignite imagination and get through the grief. That’s what I want everyone to walk away thinking about.”

[Abigail Hing] Wen adds, “The story of why The Vale began is a flashback in the novel and had originally been the opening. It felt like a discrete enough story that I could tackle as a short film. My family and I had also known the same grief. We had a really hard time having a second child and know that loss well.”

Wen’s directorial debut is a hybrid animated/live-action short about a 5-year-old who draws his way out of grief, and the parents who build his sketches into an AI-powered virtual sanctuary – made without AI.

Thank you @thepfcat for hosting us for The Vale — Origins — on the biggest 4-story-high screen I’ve ever seen it! And for awarding us Best Adaptation.

Loved chatting with the programmers, filmmakers and movie lovers. Thank you for being our very first film festival acceptance over a year ago, even though we were still in the thick of the animation portions, and for inviting us back when we weren’t ready the first time round 😄 We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful screening and Pacific Northwest Premiere.

All—stay tuned for where to watch our film online soon!
