Shout out to @forestparkforever and @nsysscstl for partnering up and inviting @biggameofficials academy cadets to work on their citizenship efforts by leading warm-ups and teaching basketball skills and drills to our senior citizen athletes.

It was a wonderful chance to share knowledge, build connections, and bring the generations together. We’re proud of our cadets for leading with confidence, patience, and heart—and grateful to everyone who joined in.

Dear God,

Help me walk in humility, gentleness, and patience. Shape my heart to reflect your character as I know these next chapters will be different and life changing. After nearly 60 years, I’m beginning to find my purpose. Help me trust that the struggles along the way have been essential to my growth. Calm my fears, guide me toward my goals, and help me to continue to love others with compassion and grace.

Thank You for the friends, loved ones, prayer warriors, and fellow visionaries who lift me up and walk beside me. Help me recognize their love and accept the flowers they offer along the way—their encouragement, kindness, and care.

Remind me that my worth is not defined by what I have or what goes right. Even in hard seasons, I have You, and You are enough. Give me strength to break old cycles, believe in the gifts You placed within me, and meet each day with faith.

Amen 🙏🏾

“One of the greatest gifts we can give to another generation is our experience, our wisdom.”-Desmond Tutu

In this clip, we are celebrating the growth of two of our (five) newest BGO Junior Academy cadets and they share their heartfelt testimonies about their experience.

Less than three months ago, these student-athletes began their officiating journey at 13 years old. Since day 1, they’ve shown up to every practice with confidence, courage, and the eagerness to learn.

After completing their eight-session paid training program (sponsored by Northside, they’ve earned their BGOJA badges and officially joined the BGO training squad. These ladies are now eligible for selection to a BGO roster spot ahead of the upcoming basketball season.

This weekend, they’ll attend their first preseason BGO Back To Basics Camp, where subject matter experts will share feedback to help them sharpen their skills—all while balancing school and a demanding AAU schedule.

Please join us in welcoming these brave young souls to the sports officiating community!

“I am because we are.” — Ubuntu Philosophy

The BGO Cookout gave officials a chance to put the whistle down and enjoy a little competition of their own. We fellowshiped, shared great food, enjoyed music, welcomed the newest members of the practice squad, and reminded every cadet to trust their training as they begin the next chapter of their journey.
