Oakley Topcoat

Frame: FMJ White
Lens: Black Iridium
Date: 1997

The Topcoat is part of Oakley’s Jacket family, a line built around the idea that eyewear should fit the face the way clothing fits the body. Following the Eye Jacket and Straight Jacket, the Topcoat arrived in 1997 with a more aggressive direction: top-loading hinges, sharply wrapped lenses, and a silhouette designed to move with the skull rather than simply sit on it

Designed by @peteryeedesign, one of Oakley’s defining designers of the era, the Topcoat developed its own identity within the Jacket line. Slim, fast, and heavily focused on peripheral coverage, the frame was shaped with naturally curved stems that follow the side of the head for a close and comfortable fit

Production lasted only a short time, and the model disappeared before the end of the decade, making clean wearable examples increasingly difficult to find today
