în a dream state, i met a Dharmapala on a narrow mountain “path” în the Himalayas. strangely, i recognized him; he seemed completely & literally familiar to me, as if he were beloved family.
he stepped forward from his little entourage, opened his arms wiiiide - a warm, open smile, a very large big dude - and he hugged me.
he smiled sweetly & reassuringly, said something în Tibetan, and i somehow felt uplifted, even unburdened.

then i took a strange liberty, and în real life found myself somehow imagining - hardcore - that i’d maybe walked away w/some kinda “protection” from forces of avidya, from truly malign, lightless beings.
yeah, yeah… i know it sounds wack.
but.
that dream occurred at my upstate home, sometime between 1994-‘96.

(and TBC i had , IRL, been in the Himalayas, traveling alone back in 1971.)

so… sometime between - IRL - my wife and i walked into a little Tibetan/Nepalese/Indian shop in town; generally looking for clothing, and me for books or texts on Tibetan Buddhism, and more specifically, the practise of Dzògchen.
she found a blouse, i think, but i was gonna leave empty-handed.
we went to the register for her to pay for her purchase.
while walking out, i saw there was a very nice-looking hard-cover book, just past the register.
i flipped it over to read about its contents…
… and was truly, completely stunned to see a beautiful picture of the Buddhist Monk stranger i’d chanced upon on that mountain path în that very moving dream-state, years before.

no question în my mind at all that i’d been greeted în the mountains by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, a giant of compassion, a teacher of Dzògchen practise.

so, this piece of music for all manner of humane & caring protectors.

a little theme i’ve never written, always played differently:
“Tema: Marmara Variation”

here, i’m using”Ttema” to exercise 2 very new-to-me musical pedals, each beautiful, fresh and inspiring to play dynamically:
1) @ashevillemusictools Purple Phase+.

2) the @emptyheadeffects Seafarer Reverb.

i love these!
most of the saturation & distortion here is achieved by The Seafarer reverb, always on.
but that’s def enhanced by Purple Phase +’s drive ctrl when i engage the Phaser.

sooooo enjoyable to explore and play! yes, still answering questions i understand.

Had a blast at @baltimorepedalshow today. Met @johnetone at the @electronicaudioexperiments table, great guy! Also had great hangs and jams with @dirgeelectronics , @alexanderpedals , @oldbloodnoise , @damnationaudio and the list goes on - too much fun, too little time. ‘Til next time, cheers!

I just got home and my heart is full and my body is a wreck. @effectiveslam was an amazing reminder of what's important about this whole thing which is all of us getting together and having a good time and getting excited about little boxes. I love you all so much, lets do that again.

Live on the infranet. Believe it or not this drumset belongs to Claude Coleman from Ween and apparently is the set he used with them in the 90's. What an honor to play it!
