I’m extremely excited to announce the guest artists for the 2nd Annual @jackiemcleaninstitute Jazz Trombone Day which will be taking place on Saturday, November 7th from 3pm-7pm at @theharttschool at the @universityofhartford!

We will be hosting the internationally renowned trombonists @johnfedchockofficial and @jenniferwharton to serve as guest clinicians for this event, which is sponsored by JMI, @theharttschool Admissions, and @xobrass !

Both Jen and John are huge inspirations to me on and off the bandstand and I owe a lot to them for my own musical development. I can’t wait to have them share their knowledge with our students and prospective students!

If you are interested in what it would be like to study at JMI, this will be a great opportunity for you to visit our campus. It will be combination of masterclasses, Q+A sessions, as well as student and guest artist performances!

I will be doing a short faculty recital and let you know a little bit about our program, Jennifer and John will perform with our students, and both the JMI Jazz Trombone Group and JMI Big Band will be working with Jen and John for some ensemble coaching! There will also be a participants Jazz Trombone Choir portion which will be a ton of fun for us all to come together and make some music and form some community around jazz trombone.

The event is free and open to the public and open to all ages. If you’d like to attend, please email me a sblakesle@hartford.edu to register.

If you have any questions about the event feel free to message me here or email me at the address above. Feel free to share with any students or other trombonists you think might be interested and I hope to see you on November 7th!!
