Must READ: I love how the Knicks games and win after 27 years brought something joyful to us New Yorkers to bond on! I must take a break from posting about Tribeca, and other stand out moments of the last two weeks to share the most heartwarming NY Story: when you’re watching the final Knicks game at a hotel bar and your friend wants to make a video saying “Love you, John” for your biggest Knicks Fan Friend @johnfloresca while watching the game and @annapakman thinks it will be cute to involve the stranger next to you in the video (even me who meets and befriends strangers daily was a little nervous to ask him to be in our video because he might be shy or offended) but I did it anyway and was relieved and impressed that he was totally game and even enthusiastic! Turns out his name is George and he’s a real estate lawyer from Shanghai - and the Knicks win was his last night in New York for a conference - and we were only at the hotel because our friend @itsmelovelykate was visiting from Portugal!

So open and happy were we all that we end up sharing our snacks: beef jerky, salt and vinegar chips, and pistachios as we rooted for the @NYKnicks and later took this selfie together that he sent on WeChat to his friends in Shanghai.

Initially, we left each other without exchanging information just letting it be a New York moment… until Anna and I decided the next day we regretted not staying in touch - and we wanted that great picture - and thanks to her KGB level sleuthing we found him, and he sent the picture to us - which I will cherish forever! Thank you, @nyknicks bubbly Shanghai George and thank you Kate for visiting to give us this international “Meet Cute” and a classic NY moment!! PS: John never responded maybe he will now!

ID: Film poster for Back to the Dark Ages a film by Anna Pakman starring Mary von Aue and Makenzie Morgan Gomez. The poster features two women, one blonde dressed in medieval garb with a cream-colored cloak and blue green velvet dress, the other is a Latina with short wavy hair who is wearing a jean jacket on top of a gray shirt and black pants. The second woman has a pink cane in her hand. They are both sitting on a bench in a park.

PSA: a popcorn mask does not protect against COVID-19 or anything else.

But it does make a good snack for getting in one more view of our @disabilityfilmchallenge
Film before the awareness campaign ends in a couple of hours.

Grab an N95/KN95 for that other thing. 😷

There's STILL one more day left to watch, like, share, and comment on "Back to the Dark Ages" to help our little film in the @disabilityfilmchallenge Awareness Campaign competition. You can find a link to the 5 minute film in our bio!

This is why we rise up to the challenge. This sampling of comments from our community, from people living with Long COVID, from people feeling the solitude of carrying the weight of the pandemic on their shoulders, and from people who after 5 short minutes gained a new perspective is everything.

Watch our @disabilityfilmchallenge in link in bio and let us know what you think! Reviews are in. Comment ug4152 Comment: What a fantastic job you all did with this film.
As a long hauler, it really hit home. We lost everything because of this pandemic: our friends, relationships, jobs, hopes and dreams and wound up abandoned by those whom we thought would support us when in need. Kudos to Anna for creating this film and making it all come to life.

Filmmaking is a team sport and I was lucky to work with such an incredible cast, crew, writers room, post, and producer team. Not everyone is pictured but everyone's contribution is in the fabric of "Back to the Dark Ages"

There's about 24 hours left to help us in the @disabilityfilmchallenge awareness campaign. As the only film that talks about the present day impact of the pandemic and corresponding systemic public health response when most of the world is referring to it in the past, we are proud to bring this important topic into the pop culture conversation. It's been amazing reading comments and reviews from 20,000+ viewers who have already been touched, informed, and entertained by our message. Help us get the word out to even more!

Watch our film in our link in bio and share it to your own story and social pages to help us spread the word. A group of people with Mike’s disabilities smile for a photo outside of Central Park
