SIGNED ✍️

The Hudson Havoc are excited to announce the signing of John Lemieux for the 2026–27 season!

Coach Russell Barone on the signing:

“I’m incredibly excited to welcome John Lemieux to the Hudson Havoc. I had the pleasure of coaching John last season, so I know firsthand the type of player and person we’re adding to our program. John is one of the smartest players on the ice. His hockey IQ allows him to read the game at an elite level, make the right decisions under pressure, and positively impact every situation.

What truly sets John apart is his work ethic and leadership. He’s the kind of player who leads by example every day through his preparation, consistency, and willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team succeed. Those qualities are invaluable and play a huge role in building a winning culture.

Beyond his abilities on the ice, John is an outstanding young man with tremendous character. Having coached him before, I’m excited to continue working with him and help him take the next step in his development. I have no doubt he’ll be a tremendous addition to our locker room and an important part of what we’re building in Hudson.”

Welcome to the Havoc family, John! 💙🐺

D-to-F Development Drill 🚨
This drill is one of my favorites because it gives both defensemen and forwards game-like reps.

🔹 Defensemen:
• Work on closing your gap early, then making a tight transition instead of looping wide. This keeps you connected to the play and ready to retrieve pucks under pressure.
• Opening up from backwards to forwards without crossing over makes your first three steps quicker and keeps you balanced.
• A shoulder check with deception throws the forechecker off, creating just enough time to make the next play.
• Finish with a clean stretch pass — an essential breakout skill that translates directly to live game situations.

🔹 Forwards:
• Catch the stretch pass in stride, simulating a real breakout.
• Immediately go into a 1v1 attack against a defender, forcing you to work on puck protection, creativity, and decision-making under pressure.

👉 This drill mirrors the exact reads and skills players need in real games: retrievals under pressure, deceptive puck movement, stretch passes, and attacking with speed. Both sides of the puck get better in one rep.
