Wow! So proud of Joe and all he's accomplished at his first Paralympic Games! He worked so hard and raced so well against a field of very good riders...the top in the world. Border Cross was the first event where he placed 8TH overall. Unfortunately, he fell on the last race and fractured his arm pretty severely which will require surgery when he gets home. To say he's in a good amount of pain is an understatement. But, if you know Joe, he doesn't give up and convinced the doctors he could still race, even in a cast. And that's what he did, coming in 11TH PLACE in Banked Slalom...with one working arm and minimal pain meds! Thank you everyone for all your support, well-wishes, and getting up in the middle of the night to watch. It means so much to all the athletes to have a support network cheering them on!

Joe will be competing in Banked Slalom tomorrow at 4AM EST. The race has been moved up a day because of warm weather. We are hoping the best for Joe, but know he is competing injured. He is already scheduled for surgery on his wrist when he gets home next week. GO JOE!!!!

What a day! Joe did AWESOME and ended up 8th place at his first Paralympic Games! So proud of him and all he's accomplished! But...he had a fall on his last race and broke his wrist. He was able to finish the race and was immediately taken to medical and then transported to the hospital for evaluation. It's a pretty nasty break that will require surgery when he gets back home. The great doctors here stabilized it and put him in a cast. But, in true Joe fashion, he is hoping to be able to race next weekend...in a cast. He has a few days break to let things settle. Hoping the best for him and a quick recovery!
