The Lloyd Center is closing August 8th! We interviewed the owner of the Star Tropics Pinball Museum about his thoughts.

When asked about his message for Lloyd center, he said,

Today is a bittersweet day. @startropicspinballmuseum is closing its doors at the legendary @shoplloydcenter in Portland. @johnnydemonictv has always been a champion for pinball and community and anyone who knows him knows that this was a labor of love. You can read about it in our Portland trip story, but just wanted to use today to salute the coolest, weirdest pinball shop in the coolest, weirdest mall of all time. We salute you, Jason. No days off.

DJ Baby Jessica will be spinning 80’s dance music on the turntables, PLAYGUE delivers a live-looping electronic set like no other, and magic by Brad the Wizard. And OH YEAH, pinball! You will want to come early afternoon to catch the music, and see all the other indie shops, pop-ups, and food happening at Lloyd. Last week was a big organizing week for Save Lloyd and resulted in a huge turnout at the Design Commission hearing that kept the hearing going over an hour past its scheduled end time. One big takeaway, other than that the public testimony overwhelming supports finding ways to retain Lloyd Center, and most especially the ice rink, is that the record remains “open” meaning they will still accept write-in feedback ✍️ from the public through February 12th. So don’t let the recent PR wave convince you that the fight is over - the plans are as of yet not approved by the Design Commission and your written testimony can be part of the public record and part of the stand we’re taking collectively. Please, if you haven’t yet, submit write-in testimony to benjamin.nielsen@portlandoregon.gov
by this Thursday (2/12).

Your feedback can include support of Lloyd Center as a community fixture, or however you see it. We also have some excellent resources to offer, courtesy of historic preservationist and Save Lloyd advocate, Matt Kelly, to help guide you in addressing specific city criteria (link in bio).
