22-24 May:
So, the very first Enhanced Games happened! I was lucky enough to take part (as a viewer 😂) in Las Vegas. It was such a cool experience, and I do find it an intriguing project. (I am also friends with the founders, but I believe that makes me slightly more knowledgeable rather than clouding my judgement.)

The Enhanced Games, where professional athletes can use (FDA-approved) performance-enhancing protocols, have gained a lot of attention over the past few months.

From my slightly deeper knowledge, I’d say the EnhancedGames are built around a simple idea: honesty. More than half of elite athletes are believed to already use performance-enhancing substances behind closed doors and without proper transparency. Here, everything is out in the open, medically supervised, science-led, and focused on safety, performance, longevity, and responsibly pushing human potential forward. Which I think is super exciting and could benefit us all!

It’s also refreshing to see athletes finally being paid properly. Most dedicate their entire lives to sport, often sacrificing everything, yet many struggle financially after retirement. This gives them the chance to be rewarded for the entertainment, dedication, and inspiration they bring to the world.

Whether people agree or disagree with it all, it’s definitely one of the most interesting conversations happening in modern sport today, and one that will likely shape how we think about human enhancement in the years ahead.

Big congrats to @christianangermayer, @maximilianbmartin & @aronpingdsouza and hello Vegas! 🙌

This past long weekend was a rather interesting one to me. I went to some fun events, including a coronation viewing occasion, of which some people at other events I went to disapproved of. Let me just state first that although I do understand some reasons why some people might have negative associations of the institutions of the Monarchy, which feelings always matter, I’ve some thoughts I’d like to share here, sort of coming from an outsider. (A person who moved here alone the age of 17.) I’d like to state that my thoughts are not necessarily truths, even if I am going to use some facts to back up some of them. Opinions can change, but I’d say that I am somewhat neutral-positive on the question of the British Monarchy.

So when I asked people about issues they may have with this setup, what came up are that we have to pay for them, the past of slavery and that it is undemocratic.

I understand if some people disagree with the fact that some of the taxpayer’s money goes towards a family because of birthright, even if about £1 per person per year and that many figures show that they bring a lot more money in the national coffers through tourism. Also there is a strong argument that abolishing the Crown would mean the Government would have to give back the profits from the crown estates that George III surrendered to the Government in exchange for an annual grant. Still, if it is against your beliefs I accept that.

As for slavery, I would like to gently point out that the UK was the first country in human history to abolish slavery. I see a lot of fear and refusal in the UK and Europe to see how great a country is and what it has done. Every country has things it should be deeply ashamed of, but not every country also has things it should be proud of. (Look up the Blockade of Africa from 1808 where the Royal Navy actually stopped slavery from happening.) Atrocities in history, in probably any nation, have happened. I strongly believe that we have to make up for that in the way we live our lives, but at the same time, we have to separate issues in a reasonable manner.

As for the third point I usually hear, about being undemocratic
