Having the option to welcome in all that natural light while still being able to create an intimate space was essential. I built these doors using a beautiful combination of rift sawn white and brass.

The perfect spring project. Screen in your pergola. Add a cover from @cover_your_pergola to keep the rain out, and screens from @screen.tight to keep the bugs out.

Take it one step further and add sliding screen doors using @johnsonhardware sliding door roller hardware to give it that extra touch and set yourself apart from the neighbors.

2025 Favorite Projects Countdown in no particular order.

This was a deck I built earlier in the year and came back to do the pergola. The customer pushed the envelope for me asking for a cover and screened in. Basically a screened in porch but in pergola form. A full gable attached to house screened in porch wasn’t in the budget, so pergola with a cover from coveryourpergola.com and screens from EZScreen was the budget friendly solution.

Change order was added at end to include sliding doors on the front that could be opened up to a larger opening vs a hinged opening that was originally planned. I used sliding pocket door hardware from Johnson Hardware to make this change happen. Worked out perfectly.

Frames for screens were made from cedar, underneath on deck front had leftover decking and PVC middle pieces so not to rot. Cedar should last years before rot sets in.

"Oh God, I pierced the toast!"

My client needed to close off a 8'x8' opening to their study to create a quieter spot for working from home. It may also be a good spot now to cordon off the inlaws during holiday dinner...

We went with some French doors from @talbertbuildingsupply that mimicked other doors in the house. I resized them, routed them, and hung them on a @johnsonhardware 100RD multifold track setup. Four 8' tall glass doors slide and fold effortlessly and quietly. I'll be back to install some handles following painting.

Hanging door slabs in existing openings is a very valuable skill and comes in handy when folks are making their home more functional! Pocket doors are great in new construction or big remodels, but many times barn, bifold, bypass and multifold doors are the ticket.
