Congratulations to our Early Childhood Learning Center! We recently received our official Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) rating, and ECLC earned a 100% rating!

QRIS is Tennessee’s system for evaluating the quality of licensed childcare programs. The review looks at important areas that contribute to a high-quality early childhood experience, including the learning environment, teacher-child interactions, health and safety practices, family engagement, and program practices.

The ECLC serves campus and community families with children between age 3 and kindergarten. Our TSoE students work along with Mrs. Hout and Mrs. Weeks, under the direction of Ms. Eastep, to make this a wonderful first-school experience for our precious students. Well done!

I like painting walls 😁

Thanks to @johnsonunivtn for the opportunity to paint this mural! I had a blast! While I did all the painting, the actual design was done almost entirely by the amazing Lindsey Kelly, who was fantastic to work with on this project.

Thanks also to @johnsonuadmissions who were a delight to see every day (and very encouraging), and the facilities team who prepared the wall for me and made sure I had all the supplies I needed.

This project was extra special for me because of the friends, mentors, and professors who stopped by as I was painting. It was great to see y’all!

Happy 100th Birthday Winnie-the-Pooh. This past Wednesday, our department celebrated the 100th anniversary of the publication of Winnie-the-Pooh! Our students enjoyed a variety of Pooh-approved desserts and sweet treats, along with fun Winnie-the-Pooh stickers. Students also had the chance to enter a raffle for a hardcover copy of this beloved classic. It was a wonderful way to celebrate such a beloved character that has impacted the education of many children.

We are proud to welcome our talented Johnson students into the Teacher Education Program! These students have worked incredibly hard to reach this exciting milestone. To qualify, they were required to pass 60 hours, maintain a strong GPA, complete a midpoint application, and meet ACT/SAT or Praxis Core requirements.
This week, we celebrated their dedication and accomplishments by gathering with friends and family for a special pinning ceremony. Each student received a pin symbolizing their commitment to the mission and values of our School of Education.
Congratulations to our future educators! We are so proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to seeing the positive impact you will make in the lives of your future students!

Last week, 50 Johnson University students and professors traveled to Indianapolis for the Spire Conference!

Our students learned from ministry leaders, heard powerful messages, built meaningful relationships, and had space to reflect on their own calling and future in ministry.

We’re grateful for opportunities like Spire that challenge and encourage our students as they grow into the leaders God is calling them to be and remind them that they’re part of something much bigger than themselves.

It was a great few days of learning, connecting, and dreaming about what God might do next!

PURSUE 2026 is coming up at Johnson University!

We’re heading to Tennessee for a weekend with other students from around the country to worship, hear from great speakers, learn more about vocational ministry, and spend some intentional time pursuing Jesus together.

Early bird registration ends October 7. After that, the price goes up for the rest of October. If you’ve been thinking about going, don’t wait!

Experiential learning is a vital part of education, which is why the Templar School of Education provides students with numerous opportunities for field observations and hands-on classroom experience. One of these opportunities during your sophomore year is tutoring. Through this experience, you will work one-on-one with students after school, helping them strengthen their reading fluency and develop their academic skills. You will also have the opportunity to create engaging activities, build meaningful relationships with students, and gain valuable experience working in an educational setting.

The Templar School of Education recently hosted the monthly employee Snacktacular. Appropriate for fall (and TEACHING), the theme was “Apples”! We offered great food, fellowship, apple trivia, and fun. All teachers love a good theme-activity!
