Ah yes… 2023. A winter full of friendly faces. Each one of them made their lasting mark on me and their unique lines down the mountain.

The storms kept rolling in, as if they had something to prove. Deep powder, slow chairs, and a mountain that still felt like it belonged to the locals.

We lived for this shit… and we most certainly Carpe’d the Diem.

I’m just happy I was there to capture a few of those moments. 🫶

Again, there’s always so much to say.
First off Happy Valentine’s Day @_____pants. I’ll have to bump this one higher up on the holiday list ❤️ I’m endlessly impressed and inspired by you Tristen.
…
This season has been tough. The west has had a pretty grim snow drought that made it hard to ski to one’s top ability - and I felt that my skiing was not adequately prepared to flip into Corbets. In addition, at the end of November, I was hospitalized with a random and rare illness called Leptospirosis. This bacteria gave me an acute kidney injury, and a spinal tap showed I had meningitis. These are definitely not things you want headed into an important season, and after four days in the hospital, I was put on mega chill mode for a few weeks. I felt all my summer training progress slipping right through my fingers. For the last few months leading up to kings and queens, I have been struggling with various kidney and bacterial issues, ongoing patellar tendonitis, and a severe lack of snow. Basically, the first half of my season felt like I was trying to play catch up and somehow slipping further and further behind.

Going into this contest knowing I wanted to land a backflip into Corbets and accomplishing that goal through the discouraging and unsettling events of the past few months has put me slightly back on my feet. I’m so proud of myself. I’m still dealing with knee pain, and I’m sure my other internal issues will continue to blip well into my future - but it’s pretty special to know I can deal with them. All I’ve ever wanted is to progress and grow, and I feel like I’m right on track. Landing that flip was just a small step in the right direction 🥳

Congrats to @valeriefestavan and @seasonallyconfused . I love skiing with women and watching women ski. Thanks you to every competitor, without your energy KQ would not live up to the hype. Thank you to @blizzard_tecnica @arcteryxutah @sweetprotection @buffofficial @grasssticks for support. I love my sponsors 🥹. Thank you to friends and my family OF COURSE and thank you @jacksonhole for allowing us the freedom to express ourselves.

Please enjoy these fotos from the ever talented @keeganrice
