I came out at 33, after being diagnosed with bipolar at 21. Sport got me through both.

It took me a year to walk into my first LGBTQ+ club, @outplaysquash. Now I organise @all_outpadel. The Bloss @bloss_hockey in Solihull was where I felt looked after as a teenager, on the courts day and night with people who became a kind of family. I'm looking to build exactly that in ALP Collective.

Oliver James started Friend of Dorothy (@friend.of.dorothy.events) because he was lonely, bringing up three young children as a single gay dad. London is full of people like him making room for others.

Thank you to The Ministry (@theministry.london), Gayns (@getgayns) Barks and Boys @barksandboys, and Trybz (@join.trybz) for the welcomes I've had at their events.

The full story is in the journal. Link in bio alpcollective.uk/journal

Welcome home. Make room for Joy.

TRYBZ x Sober Gay Socials 👻🕸️

We’re teaming up for a Halloween mixer at The Ministry on Thursday 22 October, 7–11pm 👻

Think Halloween vibes, but without the pressure to dress up.

There’ll be cocktails AND non-ale cocktails, a Polaroid station, Halloween props and a little Mix & Match card to help you actually meet some new people.

Whether you’re sober, sober-curious or drinking, everyone’s welcome for this one 🤍
