45 minutes of training. 90 seconds of highlights. ⚽🔥

Speed. Agility. Quickness. (SAQ)

But some of the most valuable lessons from this session weren't about speed at all.

Coach Chris wrapped up training with a reminder these young athletes needed to hear. 💯

⚽ Talent matters, but so does character. How you represent yourself, your teammates, and your club matters, even when you're not wearing the uniform.

📚 Academics matter. Athletic ability can open doors, but your education can help keep those opportunities within reach.

💪 Effort matters. Soccer is a global sport. There's talent everywhere, and continuing to learn, train, and challenge yourself is part of growing as a player.

And here's what I especially appreciate about opportunities like these SAQ sessions offered across Azzurri Storm: They're another chance for our young athletes to develop their skills, challenge themselves, and grow alongside their teammates.

You don't have to be the fastest, strongest, or most talented player to show up and put in meaningful work.

SHOW UP. PUT IN THE WORK. REPRESENT WELL. GROW TOGETHER.

And just like Coach Chris ended the session.
HEART ON THREE! 💜
All it takes is heart...

Hope to see more of our Azzurri Storm athletes out there next time! 💪

💬 Which drill looked like the most fun? 👀⚽

From playing recreational soccer on these very fields to returning as a referee! ⚽️🥹

At 12 years old, Jabari (@joinjabari) just refereed his first youth soccer game!

From completing his online coursework and studying for the exam to classroom instruction and on-field training through Florida Soccer Referees (FSR), he got to experience a whole new side of the game.

But what stood out to me most was what he said afterward.

He told me how glad he was that he took the course because it gave him a newfound respect for referees and helped him understand soccer from an entirely different perspective.

And THAT is what being a COMPLETE ATHLETE is all about! ⚽️

It's more than developing skills, scoring goals, or winning games. It's about understanding the game, respecting the people who make it possible, taking responsibility, and continuing to grow both on and off the field.

Watching Jabari step into this new role has been a reminder that sometimes the best lessons come from experiencing something from the other side.

A special thank-you to @flsoccerrefs for providing these opportunities for young referees, and to C. Cellini Machiavello-Phillips, Jabari's referee mentor and assignor, for the guidance and for helping coordinate his assignments around his own busy soccer schedule with @azzurristormsoccer

We're also grateful to John Dina and everyone at Optimist Soccer Naples for supporting these young referees and even making sure they're fed after putting in the work! 👏🏾

Different role. Same love for the beautiful game. A whole new perspective. ❤️

Soccer parents, would you encourage your young athlete to give refereeing a try?

God is so good and faithful! 🙌🏾❤️

By His grace, I don't look like what I went through last week.

What a week it was! I'm beyond grateful to be on the other side of it, taking things one day at a time and thanking God for His goodness through it all.

One of the sweetest moments during my hospital stay was my hubby bringing our babies to visit me after their soccer practice and technical training. 🥹❤️

Sometimes it's the simplest moments that remind you just how blessed you are.

Grateful for life, family, and another day to make memories with the people I love.

God is still in control! 🙏🏾

WHO deserves the GOLD medal in our family's Backwards Running Challenge? 🥇😂

After a soccer-filled Saturday, you'd think we'd be DONE running!

@zaharizone played his first recreational soccer game, @rastafarirules had a tough league game, and @joinjabari refereed his very first soccer game! ⚽️👏🏾

Meanwhile, @safarirosed , who's been busy with gymnastics (more than soccer) these days, and I were holding down the cheering section! 📣❤️

After all that, most families would go home, shower, eat, and RELAX.

Not this family. 😂

We got home and decided to try the viral reverse running trend. And somehow, EVERYBODY was convinced they could do it better than the next person! 🤣

Even the cheerleaders came ready to compete!

This is us. The @DorvalDynasty! A little competitive, a whole lot of laughter, and apparently incapable of sitting still. ❤️

Now we need some unbiased Olympic judges! Watch all six runners before casting your vote in the comments! 🥇👇🏾

New role, same love for the game! ⚽️🚩

Traded my goalkeeper gloves for a referee flag! 🧤➡️🚩 Had an awesome first day as a Future Referee with Optimist Soccer! Got to see some friends and referee alongside a few players from my club Azzuri Storm. Pretty cool seeing the game from the other side of the whistle! 💛🖤

They could’ve been doing anything else on a Wednesday night… instead, these boys volunteered to be ball boys at a professional soccer match! ⚽️💚

FC Naples defeated the Richmond Kickers 2-0 in @uslleagueone action, but these young Azzurri Storm players were paying attention to more than the scoreboard.

Finley (far left), a U13 defender, said, “I got to see my position up close.”

Meanwhile, U12 @rastafarirules and U13 @joinjabari couldn’t stop talking about former Azzurri player turned FC Naples pro @ty.collins1.
“He’s the perfect wing man.”
“He’s not afraid to cut in.”
“He takes the 1v1s.”
“He farms for fouls.” 😂
That last one was new to me!

And the full-circle moment? Jabari and Ras Tafari were ball boys at Ty’s professional debut. Now they’re watching him contribute an assist in another FC Naples victory, to "own the east."

Thank you @azzurristormsoccer 💜 for giving these boys another opportunity to experience @fc.naples up close!

Sometimes the best soccer lessons happen when you’re not the one playing. And seeing someone who once wore your club’s jersey playing professionally makes that next level feel a little closer. 💚

Have your young athletes had the opportunity to attend a professional soccer match? ⚽️ What stood out to them afterward? I’d love to hear their experiences! 👇🏽

They got to see this 🔥 goal up close… but what happened after might be the part they remember most. 🥹⚽️

Our boys got to be ball boys with some of their @azzurristormsoccer teammats tonight. And thye got to see @fc.naples picked up a 2-0 win over the Richmond Kickers. We caught the entire goal in real time. @ty.collins1 with the assist and @gio_mig9 with the finish. 🔥👏🏾

After the game, both of them took the time to come over and take pictures with the boys. Gio even jumped over the barrier to get to them.💪

And just when I thought I was taking a picture of Jabari and Ras Tafari with Gio, I hear little Zahari:
“Mommy, can I get in the picture?” 😂🥹
Of course you can, buddy.

Goals are exciting. Wins are exciting. But sometimes it’s the few extra seconds a player gives a kid that become the core memory.

Great game. Even better night. ⚽️💙🤍💛💜

Our coaches apparently range from 2 months old to 1 MILLION years old. 😭⚽️😂

We asked some of our @azzurristormsoccer coaches how many years they’ve been coaching… then did this viral trend done to teachers where we turned them into that age. 😂

Our "youngest" coach is also a current player @fc.naples. @kevoconnor08 And yes, coach Chris Gores really said “one million.” We eventually got his real answer: 16 years. 😭

All jokes aside, there’s a reason we chose to share this today. Happy National Coaches Day! 💜⚽️

This is only some of our coaches, but the appreciation goes to ALL of them. Thank you for the time, patience, knowledge, and energy you pour into these players and for the role you play in their development on and off the field.

Now we want to know… 👀
How old would YOUR coach be?

When a football player 🏈 tries futbol/soccer ⚽️ skills for the first time… 👀

Sebastian plays American football, but he told his cousin @JoinJabari he wanted to learn how to juggle a soccer ball.

Next thing I know, Jabari promoted himself to Coach. 😭😂
“Not fast, but stable.”
“Be calm.”
“Like walking.”
Okayyyy Coach Jabari. 😂👏🏾

But I actually love what happened here.

Sebastian stepped outside of what he already knows and try something completely different. And Jabari had to figure out how to teach a skill instead of just knowing how to do it.

Two athletes. Two different kinds of football. Both learning something. 🏈🤝🏾⚽️

Now Sebastian is a rookie, so don’t cook him TOO badly. 😂

But I actually need scores for BOTH of them…

Soccer coaches… y’all have some explaining to do. 😭⚽️😂

We’ve all seen it during soccer training:

Coach: “This is how you do the drill.”
Pass. Move. Support. Demonstrate everything perfectly…

Then it’s time to actually SHOOT and they don't 👀😂
But not this coach.

He said “ YOU WANT ME TO SHOOT IT!” and actually took the shot himself. 🔥

🎯 Technique: smooth.
⚽ Confidence: 100%.
🥅 Crossbar: who put it there. 😂

But hey… at least Coach @phenixvpaul took the shot. Respect. 🤝🏾 He doesn't just talk the talk he walks the walk.

Players: do your coach actually finish the drills they demonstrates?
And coaches… be honest do you. 👀😂👇🏾

The difference two hours of soccer can make. 😭⚽️😂

They were genuinely excited to get back into a regular private soccer training routine.

But excited and fully awake at 7-something in the morning are two VERY different things. 😂

By 7:30 AM, they were on the field getting morning sunlight, fresh air and movement, all before any screen time. ☀️⚽️ And that early light exposure helps support their circadian rhythm, so I’ll take that bonus too.

Fast-forward two hours…

9:35 AM and we were ALL refreshed. The sleepy had completely worn off, everybody was talking and laughing, and somehow the ride home turned into a whole CAR CONCERT. 😂🎶

And we still made it home in time for breakfast and our 10:00 AM homeschool class. 🙌🏾

Morning sunlight. Movement. Soccer. Homeschool. Then screens later.

Yeah… I could REALLY get used to this routine.

Now I’m curious: Do your kids do better with early morning training or later in the day? 👀

And yes… I have the footage from those two hours of private training. ⚽️😂
