POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

One of my favorite things about being a publicist in Detroit is that some of the best stories aren’t about the newest development, the biggest investment or the next grand opening. They’re about everyday people doing meaningful work to make our city better.

And that’s exactly what we got to highlight during the Joique Bell Charity Media Day, coordinated by Ki Takeaways Communications.

We had FOX 2, WXYZ and CBS Detroit on-site capturing a day filled with community, connection and a whole lot of happy kids.

From a scavenger hunt to a generous organization donating shoes to every child in the program, to current and former Detroit Lions players and basketball players from the Pistons spending time with the students, there were so many moments worth celebrating.

But what I appreciated most was seeing our local media show up to tell this story.

I’ve always believed that good public relations is about more than securing coverage. It’s about recognizing stories that deserve to be told and connecting them with the people who need to hear them.

And Detroit has no shortage of those stories.

To the journalists and producers who continue to make space for the people and organizations doing meaningful work in our communities, thank you. It’s one of the reasons I love doing what I do, right here in my city.

And if you’re building something that’s making a difference in your community, don’t underestimate the power of telling that story. The right people can’t support work they don’t know exists.

One of my favorite things about the work I do is the relationships that come from it. Some clients become so much more than clients. They become family. 🤎

So naturally, on one of the biggest days of my life, I had to FaceTime Joique Bell and show him my ring. 😂💍

And his excitement for Christina Marie and me says everything about the kind of relationship we’ve built. Beyond the contracts, meetings and media opportunities, it’s the genuine love and support that make this work so special.

Last Thursday I turned 39 years old. This is my last year in my 30s and so I decided to bring it in at Eastern Market After Dark one of my favorite events in the city which happened to land on my birthday. This is part birthday post and part celebration of community. I ran into so many people and got so much good footage. I ran out of tags. If I didn’t tag you here it’s because I literally didn’t have any more space to tag people. But do tag yourself in this post if you see yourself.

There is nothing like a Detroit Summer. #detroit #summer #cinematic
