Our story with Gia began long before Dance Moms—and before I even knew she had worn my designs on the Matilda red carpet.

I first met GiaNina through one of the boutiques in NJ that carried our fashion collection. Gia really wanted to model for us, and when she was finally old enough, she came to one of our shoots completely ready to go.

There was just one problem: she was still too tiny for everything. 😂

So we did her hair and makeup anyway, and Gia became my assistant for the day—helping on set, looking through the photos, and choosing her favorites. She was an absolute delight.

What I’ve loved watching ever since is how focused she has always been. Gia has never been afraid to learn, be coached, try something new, or keep going when things didn’t happen right away.

That, to me, is self-trust.

Not knowing exactly how it’s all going to work out, but knowing yourself well enough to keep moving toward what feels right.

From dancing and acting to choreography and music, Gia has continued to grow without losing the kindness and generosity that have always been such a big part of who she is.

I’ve also always admired Joanne for the way she has supported Gia while giving her room to become her own person and trust her own voice.

Gia, I am so happy for you and so proud of you.

And I LOVE your new song, “Drifting.” Go listen and download it now. 🤍
