LET'S TALK BEAUTY AT 53. I recently sat down with @joleversuch for her fabulous new initiative, The Beauty Project. And I couldn't have been happier to be part of it. Whilst I may not spend a lot of time in front of the camera here on the grid yapping lol - my work life BTS sees me spend an enormous amount of time on video calls, in presentations and in creative sessions with various clients. Jo has spent decades travelling the world as a professional makeup artist, and we've had some wonderful conversations about this chapter of life. Our changing skin, the makeup we reach for (or don't), and how differently we see ourselves now. Real women. Real lives. Real conversations about beauty and how our relationship with it evolves throughout our lives. Very much the philosophy behind maison. I've been fascinated (ok, slightly obsessed lol) with skincare since my early 20s, so being invited to share my thoughts was a real treat. I love skincare. I love makeup. But my confidence doesn't live inside my makeup bag. For me, beauty should be something we enjoy. Something that feels good. Not another chore, another expectation or another thing we're supposed to get right. Jo also shares her own fascinating story, including how she moves in sync with nature, inside Edition Three: The Corner Booth ♡ comment BOOTH and I will share the link directly with you. Two women, plenty to talk about, and a conversation that goes well beyond what's in our makeup bags! Watch our full conversation via the link in bio. And while you're there, you can explore Jo's story in the latest edition of the magazine too. Nic x editor | founder @maison.1973

There's so much more to 'beauty' than what we see looking back at us in the mirror. From the international catwalks of London, Milan and Paris to creating her own makeup brush brand, Jo Leversuch @joleversuch has spent decades working with faces - and getting to know the women behind them. But it's her curiosity about what beauty means to us as we move through different chapters of life that makes her perspective so interesting. Changing skin, changing attitudes, the relationship between how we look and how we feel, and Jo's fascinating approach to moving in sync with nature. Because beauty isn't a fixed idea. And neither are we. We're delighted to welcome Jo into Edition Three: THE CORNER BOOTH, where she shares her incredible story. Comment BOOTH and we'll lead the way ♡ or you can browse via link in bio at any time 🏹

Beauty in the eye… The wonderful @joleversuch @untitled_no1 asked me to write a poem collating the words and phrases of a group of women as part of their Beauty Project. Unfortunately due to illness I couldn’t attend the day in person, but was able to weave a poem together using the notes taken on the day. Beauty is a complex topic to explore, it means so much, so little and something different to everyone. Beauty is what you make it and how you define it. So tell me, what is beauty to you? #beauty #poem #poetry #spokenword #poet

The Caring Beauty Co was created to make a one stop shop for products that perform but are also cruelty free and vegan. Why is this important to us? We feel that no animal should be harmed in the making of beauty products and that also includes using animals within formulas. Did you know that the ingredient Carmine is a vivid red pigment derived from the aluminum or calcium-aluminum salt of carminic acid, which is extracted from the crushed bodies and eggs of female scale insects called cochineal(Dactylopius coccus). The insects are harvested then they dry them, boil them in water to extract the acid, and mix the extract with aluminum or calcium salts to form the bright-red dye. 😔 Elle Skin prep @evolvebeautyuk Make-up @delilahcosmetics Make-up brushes @joleversuch #makeup #skincare #crueltyfree #vegan #caringbeauty

10:10am on the 10/10. A moment to pause. A moment to gather. A moment to celebrate women. The Beauty Project is about so much more than beauty. It’s about the stories we carry, the way we see ourselves and the relationship we have with our own reflection. Together with @samanthaortonphoto and @_quaystudios, we’re creating a space to celebrate the Autumn Equinox, the season ahead and the collective energy that comes from bringing women together. Want to be part of it? DM @untitled_no1 or @_quaystudios and let us know.
