Ventura Surf Girlies October Beginners Surf Meetup: Pumpkin Heads Edition 🎃🌊 Join Ventura's women-led beginner surf community for a Halloween weekend at Mondo's Beach! 🎃 FRI, OCT 23 · 6:30–8:30 PM: Pumpkin Carving + Pizza Party in Ventura. Bring your own pumpkin (big enough to fit your head!) + your own carving kit. Location is emailed to RSVPs only. Pizza provided! 🏄‍♀️ SAT, OCT 24 · 10 AM · Mondo's Beach, south end: 10–11 AM: coffee + bagels, mingling, a pumpkin-head photo shoot with @ciarasdream 📸, JOLYN pop-up shopping + VSG merch 11 AM: we paddle out together 🌊 What to bring: pumpkin head, sunscreen, surfboard, wetsuit, blanket, coffee travel mug + water. I think this is genuinely one of the thoughts that got me started and, if I’m being real, it’s still what keeps me going. I see people doing big things all the time. Building the business, working with the dream brand, racing really fucking fast, and just doing the thing that at one point probably felt completely out of reach. So why not me? I think somewhere along the way, women have traditionally been taught that wanting too much is embarrassing. That being overly ambitious isn’t always something to be proud of. That it’s better to set the goal you know you can hit, keep expectations reasonable, and not get too far ahead of yourself. And I just don’t really want to live like that. Give me the delusional optimism. Give me the goal that makes me uncomfortable to say out loud. Give me the thing I have absolutely no guarantee I’ll accomplish. Because the worst thing that happens is I go after something huge and don’t quite get there. But I can almost guarantee I’ll get a hell of a lot further than I would have if I’d decided from the beginning that it was unrealistic. So yeah, maybe I’m delusional.
